Factory Warranty is Up: What should I do?
My factory warranty ended on 11/30:
The car is going to be kept for around 3-9 months more unless sold earlier, but now I worry what happens if something goes wrong? My dealer told me I can purchase the extended warranty, however I must confirm if it lasts for 5 years from the production date or from the date the extended warranty was purchased, it costs $3700, and covers as much as the factory warranty I believe. The car's spark plugs were changed, and before the warranty was up everything was checked to make sure nothing will go wrong anytime soon, and the car is in perfect shape now, but things can change instantly. Any suggestions on what I should do? Let me know, thanks guys.

It's already been sitting in the garage for 2 weeks without a wash, I need to take the BEA5T out What happens if there is some major malfunction? That's my only concern, considering it is an earlier build.

Haven't you been wanting to sell the car? Just trade it in for what you want now.

Well, I'm on the edge of putting it back up or keeping the car and doing a little more before I sell it, plus I won't get anything with trade-in, especially with the mods I put in.

List it and be patient and pay the extra fees to not have the "reseller services" trolls bug you (on Autotrader, etc). You will only see hits for extremely interested parties.
I might have to do the same with my 535 within a year to snag an M3....I did do the Carmax thing and it was at least $3k below what I expected.

Definitely buy the extended warranty, that plus making your car certified preowned will increase the overall value.

That is why you never sell a modded car. Lose the sentimental feelings, part it out and make back maybe 60% of your mod money, then sell it stock or trade it in. I still am amazed when people actually think that modding a car raises its value, it doesn't!

It depends how long you plan to keep the car. I own it so I'll def. be getting the 7yr/75k mile warranty. Should be good for me until 2018 when I can trade in or sell for the new 5 series.

DINAN doesn't void BMW warranty, DINAN just has its own extra warranty.

It starts from the purchase date. If you're still under warranty. You're extending it 2-3 more years. Which is about 1k a year. |

If you have the Dinan software in your car, and you have the BMW extended warranty and something happens to your motor, BMW will blame Dinan and your Dinan warranty is expired so you'll be left empty handed. My car was under the BMW warranty and I spun a rod bearing at 42K and BMW left me high and dry. Luckily Dinan stepped in and dropped the 16K for a new long block.
