I think you can get more advices from the E60 forum.

Hi Ac388, have you finally changed the rim to 20"? if yes, how do you feel about it? I want to get a 523 too but not sure the 312 rim will affect the performance a lot. pls advise. cheers

Man, this thread is ancient.

OEM 20" wheels definitely will affect performance. The OEM rims are heavy so I suggest you go for the aftermarket forged or flow formed rims. 312 are staggered wheels so 245 front and 275 rear for tires which are wider than the stock. Cornering will be better than the stock but pick up will be a bit affected. So it's give and take.

If you are concerned about performance, my advice is don't switch to OEM rims. Or go for light weight forged or flow formed rims.

BTW, we have discussed this topic many times. Just go through the threads in the asia section for more info.

they dropped the price for the 523 base base? When i got it the diff was only 70k..
20" wheels with tires will set u back 30k, dun know if u want to spend that if u want to save on a 523i .. Mlai means the 528 is a lot more car for min price difference well, a little more now

Exactly And I really do not advice going to 20" with a 523i if costs is a concern, as well as performance. Besides the wheels, the 20" tyres are way more expensive than 18"/19", with very limited selections.

Weight is also an issue. The OEM 20" are already close to 16Kg for the wheels! I think the 523i comes with 17" 236 style wheels which are less than 10Kg each. You will feel the car being very sluggish with 20" on a 523i.

BTW, you are talkinga bout the 523i executive (next to nothing?) edition? You will really be missing out on a lot of cool technologies available on the F10

I was assuming the standard 523i vs the standard 528i which according to BMWHK is only HKD22K difference

My friend is rolling on 20" forgestar on his 523i with 255/285 set up! he said no affect on pick up but with much handling... the lighter rim did help.

Should be 20k (difference between 523 non-executive and 528) + 30K (moon roof) = 50k if compared the 523 and 528 apple to apple previously.

Just went to Habour City for BMW show. 523 executive 51.8k is loaded as RR80 stated. Only difference between the executive and non-executive is the bluetooth. This is a real deal. I don't even have rear camera. The salesperson said this promotion is to counter strike MB's E-class which has the gov't discount for environmental efficiency vehicle.

That's because flow-formed rims are much lighter than the OEM cast rims. If compared apple to apple. 20" staggered set up vs. 17" OEM set up with the same weight should have performance difference.

As I always said Forgestar is really value for money. But there are too many now especially F14. Many cars of different brands and models have Forgestar in HK. Last time I went to the rim shop. Three new sets waiting for install.

Bluetooth for phone is good. But my wifey and folks all could hear what I said on the phone. So better don't talk any secrets in the car.

The special 523 executive has USB, just don't have bluetooth.

The 523 is a real bargain! Making me think I made the wrong move for getting the 535! Should get a 523 and second car!

You should get the 550i as a second car

All of us are correct, 20k if both have sport-auto, bluetooth, use (but not roof on 528), 50k if apples to apples, 70k if base /base but 528 have sport auto

If i got a 523 would be pissed too .. price reduced after tax increase AND so many options .. at least 528 increased price for tax increase but get roof and
camera
Don't feel bad RC, at least u didnt get the 523 with moonroof option ..
Super light rims weigh 10lbs each less compared to the 34lbs for the 20 OE .. big diff

A6 2.8na and 3.0TT both get eco tax .. but 2.8na is shitty because FWD and .0TT not bad package, but little waste of AWD

I think 523/8 will have big price decrease when new 2.0T w/autostartstop come out.. guaranteed to get eco tax
