Another Countdown
Only 2 years into my PCP and thought it was time to look at an LCI... ok the dealer thought it was time.
It turns out the deals on offer for the 530 were to good to resist so after a test drive, which was my first mistake, I have decided to upgrade. Pushing the boat out a little so the toys need to be left out but I didn't have them on the 520d SE so not much lost. 530d M Sport Sport Box Carbon Black Oyster/Black Media Pro Split Fold Seats (£420... seriously BMW!) Towbar Electric Sport suspension deleted Delivery is due first week in April which is fantastic news. Last edited by Gordon4499; 03-10-2014 at 04:27 PM.. |

Hi Gordon,
Pro media and oyster are two great options that will make that interior, regardless of other options. May I be the first to say, have you seen the Multo Function Display - seems to be standard fit on every LCI ordered in the past few months on here!

Yes Piers I did see the MFD and probably should have specified it. To late though as I think it's now in build. BMW seem to be quick to go into build at the moment

I moved from Audi where such 'luxuries' are standard and didn't spot it wasn't in the 520 until after delivery! Been a real pain at times..

Well I can’t believe it, 530d ordered on the 4th March and I am taking delivery on Tuesday 1st April, or is it an April Fools?
Since this is probably the lowest speced car ever to grace this forum, I thought I would take the liberty of sharing my justification for the lack of goodies: • Exclusive Paint – Try and imagine the look on your friends faces when you tell them you spent £1700 on Paint... Priceless! • Napa Leather – Only way you would notice the difference is when naked and I think that’s illegal. • Comfort Memory Seats – I’m the only driver and I know where to sit. • Tinted Glass, spoilers, huge wheels or anything else that makes it look like a footballers car • Anything with Adaptive in the title – An excuse for BMW to add another digit onto the price • HUD – You have been watching too much Top Gun and besides, move your eyeballs 2mm south and the same info is on display • Parking Cameras, parking assist etc.. – Further evidence, if you ever needed it, that parallel parking should be compulsorily in the UK driving test. • Lane departure Warning – watch where you are going • Blind spot monitoring – trust me, regularly moving your head from left to right is good exercise • Oscillating seats – surely that tickles • Rear seat entertainment, ventilation, seat heating or anything else that makes life more comfortable for those who made absolutely no financial contribution to this car whatsoever– passengers should consider themselves lucky they are sitting on the inside. • Multi-Function Display – Designed by Nissan for their new GTR but they thought it was a bit tacky and sold it to BMW • Ear bleeding sound systems - your neighbours will think P Diddy has moved into the street and you are too old for ‘beats’ anyway • Comfort access – how much effort can it be to press the button on the remote • Soft Close doors – Speechless! • Night Vision – brilliant, a gadget that encourages you to switch the lights off and show your mates you can drive in the dark • Comfort Windscreen – what the hell… I get the feeling that the German word for ‘Comfort’ means something else! • LED lights – light up the road in front of you, assume the xenon’s will do the same • Sunshine roof – we don’t have any in the North East and the view out of it is always the same • Traffic Jam Assist – Use the factory fitted Sat Nav and avoid the Jams. Now some of you may think the above rambling is from a miserable tight fisted Jock who is envious of all the other cars on this forum, an accusation I will flat deny. Bring on April Fool’s day. |

Gordon, brilliant that did make me laugh, even if I have a few of those options!!
I particularly like HUD and lane departure warning ones. Although MFD is awesome, just lifts an otherwise ordinary journey a little.

I was looking for the comment on Professional Media versus the standard, but then I realised from your specification that you had spent £1290 to get a 4" larger screen!

Ahh we'll spotted, yes had a moment of madness there.. Tow bars and split fold seats are also acceptable.

I only have the standard auto, business media (pre-LCI), metallic paint and the sports steering wheel which I didn't spec and the dealer claims not to know about it... I didn't spec the steering wheel and when I showed the salesman the standard wheel on a display car, he told me that was the wheel i had..

Collected the car last night.. Absolutely brilliant. If you see a carbon black 530d in Scotland and the driver looks like his smile has been stapled onto his face then that's me, feel free to wave.
Will load some pics when I get 5 mins and I work out how to do it.. |
