Now I know that I probably should have seen this coming, but I went ahead and did it. I took my muffler deleted 535i to a Mr. Inspection to get my car inspected for the year. They failed me because I didn't have my mufflers. Does anyone know a place where this isn't a problem??

I'd be surprised if you find any inspectors who would pass you when missing a muffler. It explicitly violates NC's G.S. 20-128. A muffler delete far surpasses the realm of plausible deniability for inspectors.

I was told by some guys in PA that if they pass someone for inspection when they should have failed them, the vehicle owner gets a fine and the person who wrote the sticker personally gets fined too, NOT the shop. The fine was something huge like $5-10k.

Just put mufflers on, get inspected, and swap out again.

If you're willing to travel little up north to Lexington. I know a guy who will pass you😂 doesn't matter if you don't have cats, mufflers, or etc.
