2011 535i N55 waterpump question

So guys I have a 535 with a out 120k on the clock and I have this thing with the fan where once it reaches about 100c the fan starts to kick in on and off at about 5 second intervals. The coolant temp then comes down to mid 90c. The oil temp sits at around 205f. What can this be, I've read that that's a sign that the waterpump might be failing, or the thermo, or the temp sensor. Before I go and pull the pump, can I test it?

When my water pump went out it didn't show any signs of issues. Just all of a sudden it went out. But when it did went out the car over heat and fan start kicking in super high and car went into limp mode with engine over heat warning.

Mine started with the fan running constantly off and on. Then went out on the way to Christmas. Watch the water temp in that menu and if it starts getting higher probably time to replace. You can also check codes. Replace both the thermostat and water pump same time... water pump was $500 and $90 for thermostat.

I narrowed it down. My normal operating coolant temp with the heat off is 105c, which is normal, and the fan doesn't turn on. Once I turn the heat on, the fan starts to cycle, and the temp drops down first by 15 then almost by 20 Celsius. So wtf is going on.?
