It's time for me to abandon ESys as I'm too computer illiterate to figure out how to make it work. I'm totally confused on which is the better option, Bimmercode or Carly. I looked at GAT, but the adapter is, IMHO, quite over priced at $200.
My main goal is to code a couple things my recent dealer visit uncoded; the compass, reverse camera at any speed. I also want to code the (I forget what it's called) headlight beam narrowing at freeway speeds. So…. PLEASE HELP me decide!! |

I chose BimmerCode for various reasons and here is what I've learned coding with BimmerCode…
Expert mode has all the available coding as does ESys. I couldn't find the compass setting in the basic modules, but I found it easy enough in the expert setting. I tried coding 5 blinks instead of the stock 3, but that didn't work; I think we already knew that. I also coded warm and cold temp monitoring... that was a failure as I got all kinds of failure alerts so I went back to not monitored. Coding off my phone is infinitely easier than dragging my laptop around. I didn't try Carly as the price of admission is too high (IMHO) and the yearly fee is too much for me (not the cost, just the fact that they charge yearly). So far I couldn't be happier and if I need to get into diagnostics I'll just get BimmerLink. |

It will walk you through the steps. I did my brakes this last summer, it was beyond easy to do.
