Running Hot

Hi,
Newbie here

I own 2010 f10 535i it on 96k kms.

It seems like car running but hotter than a usual car.

When I park the car and roux the grill it's seems very hot also upper part of the bonnet hot too but oddly middle of the bonnet not very hot.

My wife find out few days ago, metal bits of the front passenger seat rails seems like warm when you touch them,

Also after parking and stopping the car seems like takes too long to cool down

I have check all the numbers in cluster etc and all seems normal

I checked coolant and engine oil levels they also seems fine

Anyone know what this might be or any ideas ?

Or is this normal ?

Thank you

BMW engines like the N54/N55 are tuned to run very hot compared to other manufacturers. They ALLEGEDLY do this for emissions. I personally don't like it, but it is what it is.

As for your issue- is your check engine light on? Do you have the ability to see live data to tell the actual coolant temperature? Just based on what you're saying it seems like normal operation lol.

Yeah I have heard that but I'm want sure if that's the case or not.

I don't have any warning or fairly lights on everything seems pretty normal and working order
I will check the coolant temp in the morning and update on here

That will fix the issue you reckon ?

Changing the thermostat to low temp one would or might effect anything else in the car ?

This is what's looks like on the dash ,

Car was running short period of time only .
Oil temp gauge on the right goes bit more higher than the pic usually

Someone told me could be some climate issue making air trap in the car, I have check climate options in setting a bit couldn't find anything wrong really.

Because when you drive if A/C not running or if your windows closed with no A/C , inside gets warm

Mine normally runs about 2-5º to the left of vertical.

Depends on the outside temp and how much time it has spent in the sun. When you pop the hood do you get the engine engine compartment hot warning? That water temp looks normal to me; same with the oil. And if that is the outside temp, it's pretty hot. Sunny and almost 100ºF will make any metal that's been sitting in the sun hot! The bumper cover and grille would probably melt if they got too hot to touch.

No I never got engine hot warning,
And that day wasn't that hot , I'm not sure why it shows as 35c.

I have also checked cars past codes before me,

Apparently Had warning code which for engine oil level low

And another one for P is not holding

But they are all in active

I don't think anything would be related with those because I have check the oil level etc and comes up all fine , unless engine oil level checking sensor is wrong or something

Not "engine hot" warning, "engine COMPARTMENT hot" warning.

After a long drive with a "hot" engine you should get that warning when opening the hood (or do you guys say bonnet too?).

Yeah we say bonnet . I haven't take it for a long drive really, I mean drive 2 to 3 hours if that's long enough,

It is not extremely hot but compare to my 3 series it's quite hot , that's why I got bit worried if something Could be wrong or it's normal

I have the V8 and when it's raining you can literally see steam coming off the bonnet. Pretty crazy but that's how they make 'em nowadays.

Yeah inside must get warm because of that too if you don't have the A/C on, I guess that's answer my questions.

Thanks mate , That's how it is then.

Thank you for everyone again
