Upgrading 2011 BMW 535i xdrive speaker system
Hey guys,
I was wondering what your thoughts on upgrading my 2011 BMW 535i xdrive speaker system. Currently i have the S677A HiFi System Professional DSP system but it just doesnt sound that great. I usually play my music from my Galaxy Note 9 via bluetooth. I was wondering if there was a way i could upgrade the bluetooth module on my car or speaker system. If so, what would guys recommend? |

Most would say to upgrade the amplifier but options are limited because it's the premium sound system and bavsound and BimmerTech only make amplifiers for the top hifi system

if you're an audiophile than pretty much upgrading the whole system is what you'll have to do. some replace just the speakers with ok results but the best results would be to upgrade your amp and speakers. there's a lot of threads here in this section that covers this

First of all, try to connect the phone via 3.5mm audio cable. If this is standard BT codec (and since your car is 2011 / CIC with Combox I'm prettty sure it is) it'll limit the sound quality severely.
If that is the case, there are BT adapters which provide better audio quality, but you'll loose the factory integration, skipping songs etc. Try playing around with the equalizer too. I had tremendous difference on older Logic7 systems with it.

If you want the easier sound upgrade, just change out the underseat sub and speakers. I use Alpha One sub and DIY Eminence SD28 tweeter with FaitalPro 4FE32 for mid. Minor tweet on the EQ and I'm quite happy with the upgrade.
If you want to go all out, I think the easiest would get the AudioControl D6.1200, modify Techniq PNP harness to redirect the front 3 speakers out and underseat sub to the DSP amp and output back to the existing speakers wiring. For music source, I prefer FLAC format in the USB thumbstick that I plug into the armrest usb port. Bluetooth will definitely degrade the sound quality. |
