Exhaust upgrade

I'm wanting to upgrade my stock n55 exhaust but don't want to pay more than a few hundred dollars, so the m sport and dinan exhausts are a little over my budget. I was thinking of a muffler delete but I don't want the car to be so loud and drone. Any advice?

My advice: save up for a Dinan or M Sport. There's a reason why they cost more - they're engineered to sound good, they perform well, and they won't drone a bunch. If you can afford to drive a modern BMW, you should be able to save enough for a good exhaust.

this! also, with the muffler delete you'll get some drone so if that doesn't bother you that's a good alternative. there's actually a for sale on some pipes already made with quad tips for the muffler delete if it hasn't been sold already.

edit: looks like they're sold

https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1558272

another option that I was gonna do was the Megan Supremo's because of the 4" quad tips they came with

I ended up swapping the exhaust for some generic resonators and it sounds great. Not too loud or quiet.

I did a muffler delete on my 535i and it was pretty good (cost like $200 and $100 was the burnt tips_. There wasn't a lot of drone but it was loud at cold start.

Yea that's how mine sounded but it was a bit loud for me and droned a lot. So the muffler shop added some small resonators to each side for like $100 and I think it sounds amazing now. Maybe even better than the dinan exhaust

If you were charged 200 for a muffler delete you got ripped off. I know this because I was charged the same. I went to another shop that only charged $50. And they added resonators and nice M Sport looking tips all for $120. It's sad but some shops see our cars and price their work based on the car, and not the job

I actually think that sounds pretty good. That will probably be my first mod, as the car is a bit too quiet for my taste. Although some small resonators would probably keep the family happy

I have a custom muffler delete that I could sell to you for cheap if you want. Comes with nice tips too. I had it on my car for a little bit but I liked the quietness more. It doesn't drone at all. Each side has a small resonator. If you wanna message me your number I can send you exhaust notes. It crackles and burbles, sounds amazing. And when put in sport mode and you shift quickly it crackles on upshifts too
