AVIN USA Multimedia System for BMW

Hi Everyone. I own a 2012 BMW 528i which originally had a CIC system with an 10.25" screen. About 6 months ago I replaced the monitor with the following system:

AVIN USA 10.25" BMW 5 Series Multimedia Navigation System

I preformed the install myself and have since installed 2 software updates. I have gone through a great deal of aggravation, but I believe that I now have the unit working correctly and I am very happy with it. There were many different posts on this website that provided valuable guidance. So if anyone wants to ask me any questions about my experience I will be more than happy to answer them.

Def interested in more info. Show us some pics and stuff, how do you like it? I was always interested in it because of the tons of features and capabilities you get with it but I couldn't find people who actually had the unit to give feedback.

Compared to the factory screen, is the AVIN overly reflective?

The problem is people talk about it in one post and never come back.

I've been thinking about this for months.

AVIN System

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures from the install. I can say that the system is worth it just for the screen quality... light years better than the CIC screen that came with the car.

I did also install the Carplay (Autoplay) Dongle and after 2 software updates it seems to be somewhat stable. The one problem is that there are 3 interfaces competing with eachother.

1. The Origional BMW iDrive
2. The Android Audio
3. The Apple Carplay

Switching between them is not seamless, although it has improved with every software update.

Hi!
I've ordered the Ugode system (http://www.ugode.com/index.php/products_v_34_274.html) which basically has the same hardware as the new Avin with 2gb ram. I recieved it yesterday and will try to install it this week.

Did you need to run the AUX-cable down to the armrest? and where did you place the GPS-antenna and how did you hid the cable?

Thanks!

AVIN_SD_Card

Hi,

I just received my AVIN NBT unit and I asked me, is there a need for the SD_Card to use the navi-option?
May I have problems concerning the installation?
I am an old technican, worked for a long time at Panasonic car audio service.

regards

Hi... I did install the AUX-cable down to the armrest. The only way to do it cleanly is to pop off the center console and run it to the armrest. Instructions are on Youtube at:

The sound quality of my unit is horrible. I'm using the AUX input below the armrest. Thing is that navigation voices (coming just from left speaker) sound good, but audios (spotify) and videos (youtube) sound through all 4 speakers and they have really bad sound.
My question is why some people don't need to use the AUX connection and whether those who don't need it have better sound quality.
One discovery that I made recently is that these units have a somehow hidden SD card slot. You need to remove the aluminum looking left stripe:

Is it just Spotify and YouTube videos that sound bad or does everything sound bad. When you connect your phone via Bluetooth to play music wirelessly does that sound bad?

How is the sound quality of your unit? And any complaints?

I just had the 8 inch unit installed in my E92 and while it shows promise, it's glitchy enough to be almost unusable. Adding to my frustration is that I just installed the ID7 GUI in the hopes of making the unit more stable. The interface is worse than the ID6, glitches are still present, and it doesn't appear that there's any way of reverting back.

Hoping someone can offer some suggestions as to how to improve the stability of the unit.
