Pls help to diagnose which fuel level sensor is faulty.
Hi everyone,
My F10 started showing some issue with the fuel gauge. It sometimes show less fuel when I have fuel up in full. Sometimes its full when obviously not. Here is a short clip of the secret menu under Tank showing some resistance reading of left and right tank. Gauge showing 52L while sensor showing total of 49L. Actually since the sensors are acting up occasionally I think these values maybe correct. I.e. the sensors are working properly. If it isn't what should I be looking for in the ohm readings. Thanks. https://youtu.be/yDzfkYw17Uw |

If it helps anyone else, I filled up my tank full and checked the right and left tank ohm reading again when the gauge was showing lower fuel when its actually full. Here is what I got. Left tank ohm reading is 52ohm and has 36L of fuel. Right tank ohm reading is 500+ ohms with only 8L of fuel. I think I can conclude the right floater is faulty. Phew! Glad its the right one where the floater is easily accessible.
Will replace this and report back. |

Hi, I haven't changed the floater yet as it was just showing the high level error. After the fuel level goes to half tank, I think the left sensor takes over. But it is intermittent error. So far I have not noticed the error when filling the tank full. I think the floater may have been stuck before. It comes and goes.
I used my code reader to check and it did confirm the right floater was the issue. If it had been the left floater, I believe you may need to replace the whole tank. |
