OEM Springs and Struts Color

Just had a random question, have a LCI 550i w/M sport. Was looking after I got new MPS4s installed, the front and rear struts and springs are blue. They have bmw part number plaque printed as part 33-52-6-855-363. Just hadn’t seen blue used from the manufacturer.

Well, that part number came back as rear springs for Mini Coupé R58 2011-2015.

I'm guessing previous owner swapped them out? How does it ride and your ride height?

It also comes back as a bmw number as it has the bmw emblem on the strut, of course bmw does own mini could share the same part number. The original owner was a much older man and ordered this car and only drove the car 4800 miles a year over 7 years. It was 100% stock, I just hasn’t seen struts and springs blue that were OEM. All service history was preformed at the dealership the car was ordered at.

Based on BMW parts catalog, that part was only used on mini. No BMW came with that part from the factory. Mini parts will have a BMW stamp but it doesn't mean that it is used on a BMW. There will be shared parts here and there but not these springs.

F10 OEM springs are black.

Methinks there's a mistake in the BMW parts database, lol.

Anyone know if HR springs with brand new OEM struts will cause too much stress on the oem struts?

These cars are under-damped even with the stock springs, unless you have the adaptive dampers. It's not about stressing the struts, it's about whether the car will ride properly, and I think the answer is no with stock struts and lowering springs.

I can second this. I just ran that PN here and yes, that PN was only used on Mini R58 body style. And nah, I've never seen BMW springs be in colors. Not that they may not exist- I've just never seen any. Even M car springs are black. That shade of blue looks just like my H&Rs.

I've been rocking H&R sport springs on my *original/ 11yo* adaptive struts for 3 yrs now. Zero problems and the ride is great excellent.
