Oil consumption

Hello

Current owner of 2013 BMW 550i with 67,910
Last year I started recording my oil consumption. I changed oil @ 60,000 miles
Since I put almost 8,000 miles to be exact 7,910
I been averaging 1,200 miles before I have to add 1qt of oil. I added exactly 6qt of oil during this period of time.
Today I was adding air to my rear tires I noticed lite smoke coming out of my tail pipes temperature outside 65° and sunny.
I finished with air I sat in my car for roughly 5 minutes letting car idle I opened door ad step on gas paddle pretty hard couple of time
Well I ended up with cloud of smoke coming out of tail pipes.
I immediately called dealer to get this sorted out service advisor told me he will find out to tell me what my options are.
From what I have read online since my car is at 67,910 miles out of pocket I have to pay 15%.
Curious to hear if any of you had to go through this process and how much did it ended up costing you, what should I look out for.
Thanks in advance

I have 2013 550 with 68k. I had the same issue but was adding 1 qtr every 2500 miles. My valve seals were replaced back in 2021 under the class action. I paid zero. Since then, I didn't have to add any oil between oil change. Good luck..

How did you not pay anything
Because lawsuit states
Up to 70k miles you must pay 15%
Thanks

Yes, for 60k to 70k, replace engine is subject to 15%. However, my dealer did the oil test and decided to go with the valve seal replacement in stead of engine replacement. Free of charge. Both have 2 years warranty. You might want to ask around as your mileage is pretty low.

Dealer will/should fix the valve seals free

Dealer will/should fix the valve seals free.
Some dealers will argue, some will do it right away

Yeah they have my car since Monday 5/9/22
It's Friday I haven't heard back nothing
Only thing I got was from tech recorded video stating hello this is so and so I'm inspecting your car for oil consumption.
Service advisor told me Monday they don't like doing seals they typically drop new engine.
I wouldn't mind new engine

Wow - surely if it was changed prior to 13k miles it would have been done under warranty and BMW would know about it? Who would change an engine on their own dime on a 13k mile car? I think they just need to work through their records and you'll be OK.

Also - warranty is one thing, but the language in the lawsuit is very clear and simple and I do not believe there are any exclusions for prior engine replacement. It might impact the mileage calculation, but shouldn't alter BMW's obligations under the settlement.
