Whining from (presumably) auto transmission on deceleration

Hi All,

I've got a 5 GT 3.0D Xdrive with automatic transmission, 134,000 kms, full BMW Service history.... but for the last month or so, I've noticed a faint whine from the auto trans, when I lift the foot off the accelerator - normally more noticeable at around 80kmh.

Has anyone else heard this before, and what is it a warning sign of?

From my understanding, the auto boxes are sealed and need no service (lifetime usage), but I don't want to let this continue, and I also don't want BMW to take advantage of me, if and when I take it for a check-up.
