Normal operating temp

Question. What engine is in your car, what year is it & what is your normal operating temp?

exactly what Burr said ^^. I was cruising on the highway today and my oil temps were steady around 232*F, coolant at 221*F.

You should start by replacing that bad battery. Our cars are VERY sensitive to voltage/ amperage fluctuations so start with that. Also, you should have started a new thread for this and not hijack someone else's thread with an unrelated question. We all learn at some point though! So welcome aboard! Hopefully it's just the battery causing your problems.

My Stock 2016 550i (N63TU) with the 105C thermostat typically had coolant temps right at 105C when fully warmed while driving and about 108C when stuck in traffic. I have not measured it recently when temps are now near 100. The oil temps seem to be around 221F-240F depending on how I'm running the car. this isn't as hot as my N62 e70 which would hit 118C while in traffic.

I just replaced my cars stock 105C thermostat with a "90C" thermostat this weekend. I'll report back on what it does now. I did notice it takes a lot longer to get the oil up to 221 (105C) then before.

This is the 3rd car I've swapped thermostats on and its still a pain in the butt to do it from the top.

Thanks a lot for responding, actually I checked the battery at 3 different places they told me the battery is good it's 81% charge but I checked my history records into first and last time the battery changed on January 2015 and for me I've never charge the battery since 2018
and today the screen start turn on/off for almost 30 minutes after that back to normal mood with no problems
I don't know what to do I got an appointment next Tuesday cuz I already I have to change the oil and break fluid and some regular maintenance

hey a question! does your electric fan kicks in on full speed when the coolant and oil temp on 102C? i have 528i 2012 N20, the fan always kicks in on full speed, it is very very very loud noise and very annoying it sounds like a jet engine and it won't stop until the temp back down to 90-95C, any advise for me what should i check? or is it normal thing? outside temp is 36C btw.

First, AC on or off when this happens? Or no difference?

When it's below 102*C, does the fan not run AT ALL, or do you just not hear it? Our radiator fan has multiple speeds based on DME input. Do you have a check engine light on?

I find with my 535D N57 coolant sits at 105*C degrees (221*F) on the highway and comes back down to 95-97 (203-207*F) unless I have been running the a/c in which case the fans will kick in. Oddly the coolant temp comes down when on idle in traffic. It just ramps up to 221*F when cruising?! Do they all do this?
