2016 528ix suspension question

I did some searching in the forum and found a similar question but never a final answer.

When trying to lower my car I notice that most companies only offer the front springs as they claim that the rear suspension is self leveling air suspension.

Investigating BMW parts manuals shows them to be strut and spring.

I did see that the F11 was sold with this self leveling suspension.

Im wondering if all these spring sites got it wrong? It only happens when i change the fitment from RWD to AWD.

Would it be prudent to just get the RWD springs for my X drive car?

You need to read a few more threads on this site regarding lowering springs and coil-overs. In short, you are being misinformed by spring retailers. All F10s, including xDrives, have springs / shocks on all four wheels. As you have stated, it is only the F11s that have air suspension in the rear.

I actually got some clarification from eibach as to why things are so weird for this model

"This one is a little strange compared to the rest of our kits. Eibach Germany developed this kit and the popular option over there is adjustable ride height in the rear, so that's the kit we ended up with. Unfortunately we don't offer a rear spring setup for the non-air ride suspension."

Looks like I need to shop more and be certain of what I select. Coil overs may be the best solution due to availability.

Both H&R and AC Schnitzer make lowering springs for all F10s. I have the latter on mine. Once again, I recommend you peruse the threads in this section (Wheels / Tires / Suspension / Brakes) as there are many, many posts on these types of springs.

I had H&R Sport Springs on my old 535i Xdrive. the drop was just right. Highly recommend those.

you have a 528 not a F11 so why the confusion on air suspension?

I'm not confused that I do t have air suspension. More like it would appear that some of the makers of lowering springs don't cater to a market where the f10 doesn't have them.
