Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia, is the world's deepest lake with a depth of 1,642 meters (5,387 feet) and contains about 20 percent of the world's unfrozen fresh water. The lake's total volume is over 23,500 cubic kilometers, which is more than all of North America's Great Lakes combined.
Lake Baikal was formed in a rift valley which then filled up with fresh water.

Everyone knows about the Mariana Trench (36,197 Ft.) but what about the Tonga Trench, a close second at 35,702 Ft.
