Would really like to purchase the maps but need to make sure to be able to connect before spending $350.

Anyone with any ideas? TIA
I'm pretty sure every article I've ever read on phone flashing says JB4s need to be set to map 0 and possibly removed. Never anything about ECU flashes like BM3 or MHD. I asked them once about them and they also said all clear.

Can the MHD app connect to the car? It's free to test too.

Downloaded MHD app and it sort of connects and just sits there doing nothing. Not sure if I have to wait longer for it to read ECU. Sent a email to XHP hoping they can help me out as well.

Are you using the Bimmergeeks cable or just a cheaper INPA type from Ebay/Amazon?

It's not Bimmergeeks. I don't remember where I got it, but it looks like most I see online with K+DCAN on a sticker on the side. Mine takes almost no time to connect and do something useful. I used it just to pull logs and read codes so far. I'll be purchasing the flasher and maps soon.

Can anyone make a video of the upshifts and downshifts on stage 2 or 3? Haven’t seen one on a f10.

Has anyone run this on a dinan stage 1? I know it doesn’t work with a JB4.

What do you mean "it doesn't work"?

As far as I know, the precautions are to remove the JB4 BEFORE FLASHING so that the JB4 doesn't interfere with the flash, then reinstall. There's nothing about the final result "not working" that I've seen.

I've seen other flash-related tools say that JB4s must be set to map 0 before flashing but allow it to stay installed.

Yeah - I've seen that, but also people saying they are removing their piggy back because it's interfering with the way it's shifting. I think someone in this thread mentioned it as well.

Ok just caved and got this. Installation was flawless and fast ~15 minutes.

Shift in Sports+ is super fast. I'd say faster than my stock m235i auto. Sports mode still feels sluggish though, in between stock 535i and stock m235i.

Didn't realize you could only get super fast shifts if you put it into Sports+, which makes the throttle sensitive, and turns off traction control. Wish we could get super fast shifts anytime you put it into M, including comfort

I don't know how it works without sport+, but if you don't get what they classify as "3" in speed shifting I would def not get it.

I do like how Sport in D is driveable. It used to hang on the gears too long for my taste, now it seems to shift at the right spots. I wish I could make comfort manual shift at "3" speed too.

Did you install stage 1, 2 or 3? Are you speaking of chassis mode or chassis AND transmission D/S/M?

They have published a pretty detailed chart of what changes they make to the mapped behaviour for stage 1/2/3, Comfort/Sport/Sport+, D/M/S (multiple tables).

I haven't purchased yet because I don't have a DEC switch at all (no COMFORT/SPORT/SPORT+) let alone just lacking SPORT+. I'm waiting to hear back about what the map will be for cars with no DEC. [For what it's worth, I've also inquired with BM3 and MHD about the same thing. BM3 doesn't seem to have a solid answer and falls back on their refund policy if I don't like it (not confidence inspiring, honestly) and I'm waiting to hear from MHD]

I'm running stage 3. Only have sport mode that controls both chassis and trans at same time.

Yeah just saw the chart. Guess on stage 1, can put it into M comfort and get shift speed '3', need to see how that compares to 3+ on Sports+.

I used it on Dinan stage 1. It felt ok 95% of the time and might just be in my head but sometimes you’d see a bigger lag in getting boost. Otherwise seemed to work perfectly fine. I just use XHP now, and it really transforms the driving dynamics. Literally drove Porsche PDK other day, and it’s 90% there.

I hear some people may be having issues with a piggy back system on the xhp. There has to be a way to use both without any issues. I'll have to look into it more.

Worth mentioning may be this paragraph from the xHP FAQ:

Quote:
Q: I have a custom Tune, respectively tune my ECU by myself. Anything to watch?

A: A lot of the maps in the TCU use the PPS (Pedal Position Sensor) as primary input. For example, the Shiftpoint –Maps and the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) Maps. Therefore, it is recommended, to use the stock throttle mapping. This gives you greater control over the transmission’s reactions. Having too much TQ on very low throttle will lead to an undesirable shifting behavior. This is not special to xHP. The same applies to the stock transmission software. As general advice: Do not use altered throttle maps in AT cars
So, if there's any altering to throttle mapping by any tune it could be sub-optimal for xHP. From my research on flash tunes, MHD says they do not alter original throttle mapping except for their "linear" option. BM3 was somewhat inspecific - they may not modify it either.

I intend to request that xHP include support for MHD "linear throttle" in a future update, since I like linear throttle a lot.

Hmm yeah, I myself wonder how linear throttling works with xHP. I'm close to pulling the trigger on MHD but not quite there yet. I will say I was hesitant of putting down the $349 for xHP and forced to getting all 3 maps.. but it really is hard to say which map fits you best (which is their selling point of why they make people get all 3 now). They came out with an update this week, and I'd rate the mod 5/5.

Interesting...I have BMS pedal tune and still trying to wrap my head around how that would/wouldn't play with the MHD linear option. Sounds like BMS could already be messing up with XHP, although it's felt great to me...

I think if you did the linear option, you'd just remove the pedal tune. I use Sprintbooster with XHP and it works perfectly.

So probably recommended to use xhp if you have an actually ecu tune, not a piggy back system then.
