2014 F10 Screen Upgrade
Hi.
I have found a Professional NBT screen for sale on eBay. I have the Business 6.5" screen. The sale doesn't include the head unit. I am pretty sure I read somewhere a while ago that , even if the car was NBT, just changing the screen would not work as the head unit drives the screen. I can't find that information again. So can someone confirm if I just swapped the screen only from a professional system into a business system , would it work? Thanks for your help. |

I am almost positive you can change the screens as long as you code the new screens resolution! I know you can do it for the F30 so should be for the F10 as well! |

Thanks for the reply.
I have read some F30 threads. It seems quite popular for the screens to be upgraded. But not many for the F10, more seem to be upgrading to Android screens. But I see your point, it makes sense for the F10 to be the same. Just need to find a screen in good condition now. Thanks for your help. |

If the price is not much different than Android PX6 unit, I would get the Android display. There are reports mention the Android PX6 display is better than 10" screen. You still want to code it to 10" display so that it will fit full screen.

Thanks for your replies. So in your opinion the Android screen is better? I have read some reviews that can be negative.
Or do the current PX6 models perform better? Also I don't understand the use of the aux connector, does this mean I have to run a cable from the screen and plug it in to the aux socket permanently for the sound to work? I think I need to search for more reviews on the PX displays. |

Hello.
I have now purchased a professional NBT screen and head unit to replace my business nav. Can anyone tell me if there is any coding I need to do for the head unit please? I am aware of the coding for the screen and have done this. But now need to plan for installation of the head unit. Also I remember reading somewhere that the business nav Idrive controller will not work with the pro nav, can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance. |

Hi all.
I have tried to change to Business head unit for the Pro Unit. But the connectors are slightly different. The Pro head unit is a year newer. Has anyone successfully fitted a professional nav head unit to replace the business head unit? Is there a conversion wiring loom available? See picture the orientation cutouts are slightly different. Thanks in advance. The display works perfectly and the split screen works. |

Congrats on the upgrade, I’m also trying to change my CIC screen from 6.5” to 10.25” but I can’t seem to find out how to code the resolution to fit.
How did you get your done? |

I used BimmerCode in expert mode to edit the following codes. Quite easy to do. Whole job took about 20 minutes.
HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 10.25_1280x480 HU_NBT > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display |

Hello
I ordered screen number: 9321016 to replace existing small business screen fitted to my 520d LCI. Is this two lines all I need? Ive got a bluetooth vgate gizmo and bimmercode app. Is it direct swap? Any difficulties? I took headunit and screen before (to ensure is nbt version), so this should be ok. Is removing connector any tricky? Tools? |

I’m doing some investigation reg updating to a PX6, or similiar unit. Going from the 6.5” std NBT w/o nav. Will this coding enable full screen on the idrive menu after the switch? |

@mikson:
The hardware is fairly simple to do. Have a look on YouTube for this. I used a small flat screw driver to help remove the connector. But it's fairly straightforward. I only changed these two lines to get the screen working. @anger_swe: I am not sure about if the px6 needs coding or not. Maybe contact one of the members on here that has done the px6 upgrade. |

Hi,
I have the 10.2 inch professional screen, and when I tried to swap it earlier today, the standard 5 (or 6) inch screen only has the purple connector, and not the other connector, but I am guessing the other connections are for the professional hard drive, etc, which I dont have. Question is, if I just connect the purple connector, and change the resolution/size to 10.25 inch, will it work okay with the standard lower graded head unit? All standard BMW btw, car is a later 2014 F11 |

Hi johnerae,
I have a late 2014. With business nav. I just used the purple connector for the professional screen. It's a 10 minute job. Just fit the screen then change the coding mentioned above. Just to note: when you first switch the ignition on to code, the screen will be blank. Don't panic, after you have coded the screen will come to life. As far as I know, the pink connector is only needed if using a professional head unit. |

Hi Jonobro.
I had NBT already. So I am not sure if upgrading from CIC is different. But I am sure someone on these forums can help you. See link below, this may help you: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...p?#38;t=921688 |

Hi Creeky. Hope you can help me
Ive recently bought an nbt head unit and a screen. Was wondering whether you got your head nbt head unit up and running? I've got a 2014 F10 with the navigation head unit (6.5") Like your purple/ pink pins, they seem ever so slightly different. When I force it in, I seem to get a no signal. I'm guessing I need to do some extra coding? Last edited by Kingkajee; 06-12-2020 at 06:10 PM.. |
