Heat takes long, normal coolant operating temp?
2011 535i, in the morning it takes me around 12/15 minutes for the heater to start getting warm enough to feel good, I decided to check my coolant temp and after driving for over 24 minutes along with some WOT my temperature was 167 degrees Fahrenheit, that seems pretty low.. what do you guys think the temperature should be around in a normal operating f10 at 24 minutes of driving?

Normal coolant operating temp for my 15' 535i (N55) is 230 deg F (+/- 5 deg) and will stay nearly constant once the engine is warmed up.
167 deg F seems low. Edit: Just to make sure the obvious isn't being overlooked. Transmission oil temp runs @ 165 deg F when warmed up (~30 mins or so). Just to eliminate the possibility that the wrong sensor value is accidentally being read. (doesn't address the cold air, of course) Last edited by ctcarbonari; 01-09-2024 at 10:30 PM.. |
