Just take it easy on it and let it get used to the fluid, and make sure you go through all the gears first and foremost, so it actuates properly and so you are aware you have no slipping or anything of that sort. Gradually Test it from low speeds and once you feel confident enough, give it some good shifts.

I know I’m going to reset the TC adaptations after but i dont know if I can drive hard for a certain amount of mileage and what not. I may open a new thread on this but wanted to see what you thought
Remember that you're not gonna get out all the fluid in the transmission first drain and fill.

Haha I think you misread, I’m not doing the transmission just yet, I’m doing the transfer case and entire differential service as well as a new Guibo. I’m sure that info can apply the same though so I appreciate it.

Yeah just take it easy at first and make sure the fluids are at the correct levels and progressively test the components.

Sunday is the day I do complete service on all fluids besides tranny, not that I won’t do it soon but just becuase stuff is a little too pricey to include the transmission too. I’ll update this thread after this weekend to tell you guys how the car feels after I do the transfer case, front and rear diff with the Guibo.

Sup guys, update on the thread, we did the full service, transfer case, Guibo/flex disc, front and rear differential. Everhthing went smooth and then I found out my axle boot is ripped 🫠. I was gonna do the boot but my car is tuned so I think a fresh axle will be better. Other than that, car driving butter smooth and I was very satisfied.

Hey do you know if there is a break in process after doing the service on the transfer case and differentials ? You heard anything on that before? I miss gunning this car 😂

I had changed trans fluid at 51k miles few years ago. Did followed ZF guideline. On very first start, trans torque converter area started making grinding noise. It shifted rough on 2nd & 5th gear. Down shifting was rough on same gears. I drove it like this until 70k miles. lol. Then i decided to do trans rebuild to Drag 750 at Jacks Transmission in Colorado Springs, CO. Installing new trans tomorrow. See pics for D drum damage.

What was the cause of the damage?

Trans worked great before fluid change. It started to grind immediately after fluid change. I don’t know what was the cause but drained about 7qts, went in about 5 1/2 qts.

I would have been immediately concerned about 1-1/2 less liters going back into my transmission. 7 liters of drainage via the ZF procedure (gravity dump) seems a bit on the high side. Most threads I've read ~5 liters seems to be the most common.

In any regard, that sucks! Sorry to hear about your experience!

Geez I’m scared about doing trans, tbh I’m planning on keeping the car for maybe 2 or 3 more years and I don’t drive too much anyway. I put about maybe 7000 miles per year so I think the trans will survive till I get a newer bmw considering I’m only at about 115k miles. Let me also say that after doing transfer case and front and rear differential service, the car feels sooo much smoother, it’s not even close. Also doing the Guibo made a world of difference in comfort ride quality. Shifting way smoother as well. If anybody’s scared to do transmission at high mileage which is understandable, do the services I mentioned above. It’ll make the car feel much better for sure!!
