Question no power to cigarette lighter socket??

the car is a 2010 f10 bmw.

I wanted to plug in a tyre compressor to inflate tyres using the cigarette lighter socket.

it would not work without ignition on, with ignition on or with car started.

also the cigarette lighter does not work.

any ideas?

I looked the fuse box in the boot and glove box but could not locate fuses for the lighter socket.

or is it because smoker's package has been disabled?

how does one enable it?

Unhappy

ok had a look at both fuse boxes, one in the boot and one behind glovebox.

checked 3 fuses in boot compartment fusebox and 2 fuses behind glovebox compartment- all 5 fuses appeared ok.

so it is still a mystery why there is no power to the front and rear cigarette lighter sockets

My 2011 F10 wont power a tyre compressor (ignition on or off) either, but will power a phone charger...

thanks.

but what surprises me is that the cigarette lighter does not work either which makes me think there is no power at the socket

Thumbs up

had another look at the fuses and it was the yellow 20amp flat blade fuse which was blown.

it sits at position 54 in the fuse box behind the glove box.

90 pence later for a fuse from Halfords- job done and power restored at front and rear cigarette lighters!

and can now use tyre inflator with power from the cigarette lighter

Thank you posting this, I've been trying to fix my lighter for ages and was looking at the wrong fuse!
