If you have the earlier f series I think the only way to adjust it is through the dimmer scroll on the headlight switch. On the newer f series it can be controlled independently through the idrive. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I was thinking about the same thing that's why I just changed the OEM ambient light to LED.

On the F10 the intensity of the ambient lighting was dramatically increased by one of the i-STEP upgrades released by BMW. It might have been around the LCI release because the LCI defaulted to brighter too. Back in those days I recall folks saying there was no coding option to increase the brightness in any way. It's possible someone found something. If they did, hopefully it gets posted.

On my pre-LCI F10, the ambient brightness is controlled by the dimming control but prior to that integration level update was so dim it was pretty much never visible. Now at max dimming setting it can be quite bright. I'm not sure that the LCI F10 was any different.

On much newer BMWs (e.g. any loaner I was ever given) you can set colour and intensity in idrive as mentioned.

Do you have any pictures and/or infomation on switching the Ambient Lights to LED? I'm planning on switching all doors and adding a strip under the dashes edge as well but want to be able to change the color. I saw a guy do it on youtube for the F10 but he didn't wire them all together so he had to flip a switch on each door...
