Power supply while using ISTA

I began learning how to use ISTA on my F10 a few weeks ago and was constantly getting the error that my battery was below 12.55v. I was due for a new one anyway so I bought a BMW battery from the dealership and used my AGM charger/power supply to bring it to full charge. When running ISTA, I also use a Battery Tender power supply . Even with a new battery and this charger hooked up I get the low voltage error. I've tried all of the settings on the charger. I find it odd that I would need to charge this new battery for a few hours before every ISTA run.

My battery reads between 12.1-12.3v, over 14v with the engine running.

Did I waste $135 on this AGM charger/power supply? What are you using? I need to reliably run ISTA as I do most of my own maintenance.

You need a power supply, not a battery charger. BMW recommend at least 50A power supply.

I use a modified server power supply. This link have good instructions how to make one yourself.

If you don’t want to modify one, you can use something like this that will put out just enough for coding. You will need to get a cheap jumper cable and attach to it.

Great, thanks. I found a WF-9855 on eBay for a reasonable price.
