Battery Charge

Hi chaps

Does anyone charge their f10 car battery? And if so which brand of charger do you recommend?

I have had the battery discharge message a few times especially when the parking lights are on.

Thanks

Yes. I condition the battery every six months or so.

Hi

What benefit is there to 'conditioning' the battery?

Mine is still the original 2013 battery and 125k+ miles later, no issues so far.

Although I'm dreading returning to it from my Holiday next week as it's been sat in a multistorey in London for 3 weeks through the cold weather!

I use a CTEK MXS 5.0 and maintain my battery, connect it about once a month through the winter period.

Mainly due to low mileage use, not used every day. Also the SOC (state of charge) of our AGM battery is typically ~75 - 80%, if we don't get much over-run 'regeneration'. Easy to drop below the 75% SOC, with the high electrical consumer loads during winter.

Ah...I'm typically doing 500-750miles a week so I'm hoping I'm okay

Will see how it fares when I pick it up on Saturday

Use it for charging the batteries on both my cars, my Motorbike and also some leisure batteries I have. Brilliant.

To other poster. You condition the battery to prevent sulphurisation and to maintain the battery's efficiency which can effect the car in all manner of ways. Some extremely difficult to trace and intermittent faults can be battery related. Use a DVM to measure the voltage across the terminals after the car has stood for a day and if its less than 12.3v or so you need to think about charging it every few months. Can be done with car outside and the charger in the engine bay.
