N55 535i Rattle on Acceleration
My car has a rattle coming from behind the firewall area on acceleration. The metallic rattle occurs between 1500 to 2500 rpm under load (slight incline). Initially, it seemed like a loose heat shield or hose vibrating when the engine is under load. It is pretty irritating/embarassing when I have passengers in the car. I have attached a video of the rattle below.
I took the car into the dealership and they diagnosed it to be the wastegate actuators rattling. Currently, the car is at the dealership getting the turbo replaced under warranty. I'll report back if the new turbo fixes the issue. I have heard of these issues on the older N54 engine but little on the N55. Has anyone else seen this before? Also, does the new turbo have a break-in period? Should I replace the oil after the new turbo is in? The last oil change was only a few hundred miles ago. TIA, BMWMacht
