Bottom 1/3 of the cluster is basically a computer screen, quite cool. The speedo and tach digits will be digitally displayed when door is open or ignition started which looks neat. Not that many practical uses for it, but one is your music titles will display in place of your fuel consumption (on demand) and your nav directions will appear on it as well (if you have nav that is). Some pics here (at the top and then more to the bottom of this thread):

Wasnt an option for any model besides 550i when i ordered mine. Wondering now, if you can retrofit it without HUD.

inny: I don't think it will fit your E60 or the E34.

I am getting my F10 next week with normal instrument cluster. I've seen the extended one on my dealer showroom on a F12 but its also in the brochure of the F10 5-series. Its just wasn't available when i ordered mine for a 520D.
Its not about the extended features but more about the black panel display. |

Photo: Extended display when it's first turned on at night. After a few seconds the numbers and needles fade in and the whole thing turns amber for night driving. My new favorite photo of my car.

You need this cluster to have HUD, but you do not need HUD to have this cluster. Wait for the full LCD gauges - although not very popular among the purist crowd, it is on my shopping list.
