Engine seized up. warranty question. 550i

As i was driving today, the engine stalled on the freeway. i pulled off onto a exit ramp and checked the engine bay for anything unusual. Everything seemed normal, i started the car and it ran fine. I drove a little and it became a little shaky and just seized. Now it wont turn over at all. Got it towed to the nearest bmw dealership.

Heres the thing. I modified the catalytic converter, you can basically call it guted, its basically a free flow design until it hits the dinan free flow mufflers. However, the CE light is not on.

Im thinking it might be the timing chain that snapped or something related to it. There was no oil smells or leaks, no overheating and no coolant leaks/smells.

My question is, could the extended warranty deny repairs because i messed with the exhaust system? Anyone have experience with repairs and catless downpipes?

What's your miles? Always dealer maintained in the past?
Are you aware of the NEW N63 class lawsuit settlement?
Yes, they can opt to deny you if they can show the failure was due to your modifications, however, it might also be ok...your only option now it to take your chances.

If you have a tune, it is usually a 100% warranty void.

I have a tune, but its a Dinan tune directly from them which shouldn't void the warranty. Car has 85k miles and yes original motor. Just had the valve stem job done a few thousand miles ago, was an $8k job covered by warranty. On top of the valve stem job, they also replaced all coolant lines, fixed a few oil leaks, it was basically like a while engine overhaul, was in the shop for 3 weeks.

I received the paperwork for the N63 lawsuit. Except it doesn't do me much good, that lawsuit only covers excessive oil consumption issues I believe.

At least they were able to identify this.
This rod bearing failure bullsh*t has plagued BMW V8 and V10 engines for years. At such low miles, it is very premature. This stuff shouldn't happen for the life of the engine!

Think it is time for a new lawsuit against BMW for rod bearing failures.

I think that just defined the life of the engine. "Life of" warranties are worthless. Whatever the product is, its life is determined to be when it failed.
