Boost Lag after Wagner Intercooler install

F10 N55 Pwg , just installed the Wagner intercooler and now noticing a lot of Lag and hesitation/surging at WOT. Car has No Boost Leaks (pressure tested fine). Thinking of re installing stock FMIC and calling it a day....Anybody else have these issues after installing the Wagner intercooler (which has 100% more air flow) which seems to be too much. You can tell by looking at it that HUGE !!!!!!!

you should not experience any issue. Car should feel stronger with lower IAT, you should double check installation.

I've been running the Wagner for almost a year and half and never felt like I had more lag using it. This was both stock turbo and with upgraded PS2 Turbo.

It's just 2 hoses. Not much else to check on FMIC install. Did a pressure too. No leaks... the fmic is 100% larger in volume and physical appearance. So I'm assuming it is just too big. Regardless I am removing it. It did not gain me any performance at all. Just more consistent IAT. Car felt MUCH faster and Peppy before the fmic. Anybody interested in purchasing a F10 N55 Wagner intercooler please email me here. Paid $900 selling $675 shipped anywhere in USA

I installed it myself. Was easy to install. Just 2 Hose's. Hardest part was fitting it in place. Also did a leak test afterward and no leaks.
So What am I missing here ? Defective FMIC ? Temps do go down during pulls so I know it's working fine. I just think it's too big in volume. The Lag is Harsh too. It's extremely noticeable. Have u seen the F10 N55 Wagner fmic. It's HUGE!!!!! No other bmw has an aftermarket FMIC this big.

Just removed Belly pan cover. Checked intercooler connections. One side looks good, other side looks like it's coming off but not sure. I guess I have to Smoke Test / Boost Pressure year it again. Then if this is the cause, will remove it and reinstall it. What do u guys think by looking at this connection. I will show Left side connection (looks good) and I will show right side connection ( looks like coming off ). What do u think from these pics?????

I just looked at the first....
You appear to be under on both boost vs boost targets and load vs load targets. Also, A/F seems rich at the low end. 10.xx is pig rich. Did your have those traits before the FMIC install?

Here is a Prior Log on a Stage 2 Map prior to fmic install and no boost leak suspected. Afr is much leaner down low. Not sure if it's due to change of Map.

Got a boost leak test done. No leaks at all.... go figure. Regardless we put back the original FMIC. Will troubleshoot Plugs and Coils now. Putting back my original Plugs and Coils with stock gap.

So I see "ECU remap" in your sig line, who exactly did your tooon?

I noticed no drivability difference what so ever when installing my Wagner intercooler, and to say its oversized is a GD joke. It keeps IAT's from rising under load and allows for multiple pulls without heat soaking as bad.

You should see the size of the intercoolers we install on 6, 7, 800+ hp N54 cars to keep them cool.

R we talking about my tune or Fmic ??
I currently Have BM3 Stage 2 . Had MHD and MP prior. No issues at all any of the tunes aside from Slight PWG overboost.
Now, Talking about Wagner Fmic....
I had the fmic installed along with plugs and coils and a new battery and Remus exhaust all at the same time. Since then car has tremendous lag. Removed Remus exhaust still have lag ( ton of drone so removed )Just did a boost leak test and have no leaks... so I am still troubleshooting the lag issue. Not sure if it was the Wagner fmic or not so will be putting back stock fmic until I can figure this out. I just don't know what happened......
Hope this answers any questions u had.

What do u think would cause of this lag ? Also have a slightly rough idle now.
Also gapped the new plugs .025.

No Cel codes.....
At Low rpm runs a little rough. High rpm runs fine.
Next troubleshooting step I'm thinking gonna put new Oem coils and stock plugs back in with stock gap. Clean Map sensor and replace boost solenoid. And hope this fixes it.

Yes. Used the Carly OBD/App to Register and Code in new battery. Very easy to do and the new battery is so much better. Can now flash car without a battery tender.
I did notice a lot of carbon dust or particles inside the spark plug chamber when doing plugs. Not sure if u can zoom in and see that in the pics.

Let's try Oem Plugs and Coils now with stock gap. Gonna clean out the carbon dust in spark plug channel as well will report back on my results.
