With emphasis on the "Trust me" part. Heard way too much of that bullshit during the past few years.

Realizing what he had, Robert Sherman arrived at work early the next morning with the title of the song "A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down". Sherman suggested the lyric to his brother, Richard, who was at first dismissive but slowly came around.

When as as a toddler and teething, my Mum would rub my gums with Ambusol® and dip my soother in honey to help with the pain and keep me quiet. To no avail...

My Dad would dip my soother in his Guinness foam. Touch down! ZZZZZ

And the rest is history.

The intellect should simplify things, not make them more cerebral. We often don't get what we want because we quit early or we didn't take the necessary risk to get it. We are all made for every moment we encounter. If we stay in process and within the joy of the doing, we will never choke at the finish line.

"Never resist the urge to keep your mouth shut."

Don't know who said that, but it's sage advice.

" How could I forget you? The faces you had
and the faces you didn‟t have. Some of you
came back so many times to haunt me
with your faces blown off. For some of
you there was so little we could do...
The despair and hopelessness I felt....
I remember changing your dressings
and the roaches that came crawling
out of the wounds of your stumps. The
roaches that were eating you alive
and you didn‟t know it. They were
difficult days for me too. I remember
your screams when they had to
amputate your legs. I had compassion
for you and cared about your recovery.
I held your hand then, too. I
cleaned the blood up in the operating
room and then had to carry your
amputated leg to the laboratory and
prepare the room for the next case,
all day and sometimes all night. There
were so many of you....."

Among the many things I would like to forget, I can still clearly visualize a young Vietnamese soldier sitting in a make-shift wheel chair. He was among his ARVN soldier buddies at our crude base near the Cambodian border. The young soldier had lost both of his arms just below the elbow and both of his legs just below the knee. His faithful friends lashed a stick to his right arm stump, then tied a cigarette to the stick for his enjoyment - probably one of his few enjoyments in life.

Even after 52 years I still wonder what became of him.
