RDC retrofit coding

Hi all! I am planning to do RDC retrofit soon. I understand that I need to add 2VB to VO/FA and have the RDC module encoded after the retrofit, but do I need to have the headunit coded? I read some forum discussion and none of them mentioned headunit coding for RDC retorfit. Thanks for help!

Thanks for reply! As my I upgraded my factory equipped NBT ID4 headunit to NBT EVO ID5 or maybe ID6 headunit with a voltage converter video cable, now my headunit cannot be normally coded, I have to pay the guy who helped me upgrade the headunit to do coding everytime. Just want to see if any expert here knows how to code headunit in this situation as I really don't want to pay the guy if I can do it myself with esys or ista. Thanks for help!

You can do it with E-SYS

I did try to use esys to code the headunit, but it resulted in 'no signal' in the screen after coding, I had to call the guy and pay him for fix the issue. I believe the guy used some tool to do it and it probably was esys, but I don't know how to do it in esys, it is probably some FDL change. Any information do you have for sharing? Thanks!

You will have to adjust the resolution to support your stock screen. That can be done with BimmerCode or some other software that does light coding if you don’t want to use E-SYS

Oh really? Is that just this easy? I have bimmercode and esys, I can use them to do it. However, bimmercode does not work as it shows not accessable when I tap HU, it says something about not original equipment, but I can use esys to FDL code the resolution and the display_variante. I just searched the forum and found the way how to do it in esys. If it works, then I can code my headunit myself after LCW retrofit job done later. Thanks!

Update: I finished retrofit work to install the RDC module and the TPMS, but the TPMS does not work and I checked with ISTA+, it says no signal from all 4 sensors. Finally I realized that I mistakenly used Bosch sensors that requaired activation with Bosch tool which costed more than 600 bucks. Now I have to buy HUF sensors (the orange sensors) that are OEM of BMW sensors. Stupid me!
