2015 535i xDrive front caliper mounting bolt size
I was planning to replace the rotors and brake pads on my 2015 535i xdrive, but after removing the wheel, I realized that the caliper mounting bolts were not hex head as expected, but were actually an e-torx bolt. Can anyone tell me what size e torx socket is required to remove these bolts? It appears to be close to an e18, but when I tried this size, it seemed like it was a bit loose, so I wanted to ask before attempting to remove it and potentially rounding off the head.
Also, can anyone tell me the size of the bolt itself so I can get a set of replacement bolts? Any help would be appreciated. Nick |

I can't confirm the size, but I will say you made the right move to be cautious. Torx and e-torx bits should fit snugly with nearly no play. Also be careful that there's no dirt or corrosion built up between the fastener and the bit, leading to a fit that feels tight but is actually the incorrect size.

I guess I didn't include it in my notes but my first thought was e17...which would make sense with the 18 feeling loose.
+1 with prior post on being cautious with those. Always best to keep sizing down till one size too small then go back up one size so you're totally sure. Realoem.com to find the bolt replacement part number

I think this is it but you should verify on Realoem.com. Also I did my back brakes not front but looks like it's the same either way

If I remember correctly, it was E16 when I did it. That said, just have an e-torx socket set. BMW uses a lot of e-torx
