Need some advice on wheels

Hi All,

Looking for some advice here... I have a 2016 528i M Sport package but want to put some nice wheels on instead of the stock 18 msport wheels that it came with. Im looking at some Niche Vosso 203 ?

Wanted to understand from those who have gone to a 20 inch setup, the experience you have had:

1) Was there a significant difference in the ride quality?
2) Was performance impacted noticeably (e.g. acceleration, handling, etc)? For better or worse

thanks for any advice

The stock M-Sport wheels should be 19", AFAIK.

A heavier wheel will degrade ride quality. It will also negatively impact turn-in as well as during transitions. You may also lose significant sidewall impacting (no pun intended) the ride. That said, I've put many an aftermarket wheel on my cars and, IMHO, sticking with the manufacturers wheel, no matter the size, is the way to go. Suspensions are designed with the wheel/tire weight combo taken into consideration.

if anything from pure aesthetics the 20" wheel will look nicer. Performance shoud be better since you won't have so much sidewall roll

I do believe that 528i (as well as 520d, etc, in Europe) also came with 18" M-Sport, listed as 350M style. Similar wheel design to the 351M wheel style that is for 535 & 550 F10s that are 19", but with seven double spokes. Check out this link for F10 OEM wheels.

Look at the wheel weight of what you have vs. what you want to buy... lighter is better. If you can't afford forged look at the flow formed/rotary forged wheels. Can get 19 -20" about 20lbs - 25lbs depending on diameter and width of wheels. Cast wheels are likely to be heavier. Also decide if you want a "square" setup with same size all around (allows you to rotate tires so they last longer) or a staggered setup with wider wheels/tires in the rear. Your choices will impact how your car handles and corners...

I happen to come across this site that shows a 528i M-sport with 20s. I was trying to look at black/gray wheels so came a cross this...thought maybe this would help you decide if 20s are too big (IMHO - 20s look perfect on an F10).

Maciasstrong, is this your wheel? This is from a 2015 528 MSport. This is 18x8 245/45/18. If so, I would be interested in buying yours if you upgrade.
