Order with Top View Cameras
I am going to buy a 535i GT. However, it is very hard to find a stock one with Top View Cameras (Camera Package) installed. Does anyone order with Top View Cameras? Is it available in 2010 model or 2011 model?

There are 3 camera options: rear view, top view and side view. |

How do you toggle among the various camera views? Am I right that there are three? (Rear view, side view, and top view)? Can you program rear view to come on automatically when you shift into reverse?

You can also turn on the camera + parking sensor manually (lower button on the left row): Side view is a separate function and has to be turned on manually; using the button just above the Parking Camera/Sensor button (the one with video cam icon). All the cameras are turned off automatically once your vehicle goes above certain speed. |

I just test drove a 535 GT with the camera package and it behaved exactly as you describe. I do find this to be a bit clumsy, though... while I like that the rear camera comes on automatically when you reverse, you should be able to toggle between all three camera modes using one control... e.g., clicking repeatedly on the iDrive controller or the Camera button. Perhaps there is a legitimate reason for splitting things up like this, but if not I hope BMW addresses it via a future software update.

Side view is used when exiting a side street with blocked views on either side. That's why it is a separate function and not part of the toggle during parking. |
