Just read up on that, they really should wear fake watches when they're out and about and the same with Norris who was robbed at knifepoint at Wembley stadium.

How it works:
Essentially, a car number is selected out of a hat. That car will undergo the usual scrutineering bay checks, and then be taken back to its garage.

"What would happen typically is that the car will be selected immediately after the chequered flag and communicated to all the teams," says Tombazis.

"That car will be fast-tracked through the platform and the weighing and the normal classic checks, so that it goes back to the team's garage as soon as possible.

"Two or three people from the FIA will be there to start with. Then the FIA people who finish the normal post-race [checks] will be joining them. It will start from two or three and it will end with five or six people there."

The actual job of taking the car to pieces will be done by the team's own mechanics.

"We don't have the knowledge," Tombazis concedes. "We have at least two people in our team who are senior mechanics, or past mechanics. And we've done that in order to have this higher level of familiarity with the cars.

"But the cars are fairly specialised nowadays and you can't just start going there and dismantling."

If memory serves me well Norris was robbed of a Richard Mille watch also, best to leave them at home and I remember Bernie Ecclestone was beaten up by thugs in Chelsea some time ago taking his very expensive watch.

Yeah probably better not to wear a watch, not even a fake. Because robbers won't know it's fake and will still try to rob you even if it's fake. If you're not wearing anything you can't get robbed - at least I would hope.

You're welcome. There are a lot of new F1 fans that mistakenly think FIA personnel do the disassembly.

Yeah it's crazy how they have to endure that for hours on end. Literally jabs in boxing and MMA are known to do alot of damage over time, time is essentially eating jabs for hours on end. Can't be good for the brain, and I wouldn't be surprised if they all had mild concussions.

The FIA really should let the teams being in more advanced suspension tech like their hydraulics back, and the mass damper to try and solve this.

Power Units truth or speculation

PU comparison (Bahrain)

Max RPM and speed comparison

The data is dependent on wheel spin and track conditions.

Notes

Ferrari short shifts 4-5 indicates ample power/torque available for acceleration without having to stress the PU. Gearing of 4 and 5 increased compared to 2021. Possible sandbagging of true performance.

Mercedes reduced 7 and 8 gearing compared to 2021. Possibly to cover power loss due to E10?

eh. being robbed is terrible. -but now everyone who hadn't thought about what Charles wears on his wrist is well aware that he sports a Richard Mille... and they will send him a new one, and it was worth the price paid for RM.

If it were an aggressive robbery - instead of a pick-pocket style, then I'm sure Charles would think differently about the "marketing value" of the robbery.

Love it!

I would probably run the team into the ground only caring about the engineering side of things (engineers get paid more than drivers lol). I would also cheat super hard because I only care about performance and think the FIA regulations suck lol.

i would have thought any RPM and speed at any given time shows us nothing other than gear ratio?

This is the power band estimation. Red is Ferrari during qualifying. The midrange power is incredible, possibly top in class ICE with superior battery deployment.

you can only calculate the powerband if you know the time it takes (or distance covered) to get from one speed to another. this graph still shows nothing more than gear ratios without time (or distance) parameter. but then i'm not an F1 engineer.

look i have no doubt what you are saying is correct about the F1 cars but that's not what the graphs are showing, but then I'm not an engineer ... i think the graphs are missing some crucial data, possibly distance.

RBR cars are getting an update after all for Imola, boss Marko has scotched any notion of Horner's that they'll plod along with what they have at the moment so it's full attack mode for the possible maximum points haul of 34 for the winner with FL as you said.
