2014 550i Pops
I’ve got a stage 1 tune on my 2014 550i and some after market mufflers. i’ve learned the burble and pop trick on decel and i was wondering if these pops will wear out my cats? not to worried if they do go bad because im planing on going catless anyway, but if and when they wear out will my pops get louder (not a bad thing in my opinion) and will i get better airflow? or will i just have some bad and smelly broken cats?

You can melt the inside of the stock cats which can cause a blockage and engine damage from what I understand if you use an aggressive tune that causes "pops and bangs". By going catless you will get more sound, but potentially also some droning. Seeing that you're looking for more "pops and bangs", I don't think you'll see that as a huge problem. You can go the cheap route and "gut" your stock downpipe if you're looking for a quick and simple way to go catless without buying a true catless downpipe.

I tuned my 2017 Range Rover and included a fairly violent burble tune, it killed one of the cats within around a month. Fortunately, the federal emissions warranty covered it. 10 years and 70k miles I believe. Most dealerships will check for a tune and deny if one is found. I was fortunate in being friends with the SA.
However, moderate burbles will likely not cause damage. In the case of my MINI it burbles from factory, although IIRC it has a different style cat from a standard Cooper or pre-lci coopers that did not burble.
