oil measuring inactive
Hello,
I appreciate any help and thank you in advance. 2014 535i I am not able to check oil level. all i get is oil measuring inactive in idrive I am able perform a measurement, but get no result, and am prompted with "oil measuring not active" I have replaced sensor, at first it indicated that the oil level was ok, but did not give me a level, however as soon as i attempted to do an oillevel check the same fault came up. dme reports normal in ista, water pump, alternator reports normal, isb is OK, NO CODES what so ever. has anyone here faced the same issue? |

Have you waited until oil has warmed up (can't remember exactly but around 10min run time from cold) and are you checking with the car on a level surface?
I see that your issue is not exactly like mine, but have you read this? https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1969995 In particular, the part about accessing the hidden dash menu (Google or on Youtube for instructions on how to access this) and observed the alternator charge rate? If it is fixed charging rate (not fluctuating between approx 12-15v according to throttle pressure as it supposed to) then there is a problem on the BUS. Have you checked fuses, earths? Are you confident ISTA is working properly? With all my research into this problem I haven't seen you exact issue before. |

i am confident ista is working. i have not checked fuses. the reason being the fuse that is tied to the oil level sensor #42 also has numerous other items on it, and they are fine
the alternator fluctuates up to 14.8 have not checked earths. will do this next will try to find a list of all of their locations. thanks for you input. |

Hello, I experienced a similar problem at 38k miles. The oil measurement would proceed to about 99% and then abort, stating that it could not finish. Dealer replaced oil level sensor And oil pressure regulator valve which did not fix the problem. Ultimately, they replaced the oil pump, which resolved the issue. Good thing it was under warranty! No issues since. I’m at 135,000 miles and running strong!
Good luck! |

I’ve had it abort after about 90%, but I was able to disconnect and reconnect the battery to solve the issue on my 535… Could be something starting to fail, could be a random computer issue maybe?

in my case nothing is aborted, measuring completes to 100%. it behaves the same way it wpuld as if I were getting a measurement.
I am at a complete loss, perhaps i need a software updated from bmw.? I just dont know, and I cant bring myself to take it to the dealer, on principle, i have the money I just dont want to give it to the sons of bitches that are dealers. |
