New H&R Adjustable Lowering Springs

It looks like H&R has made adjustable lowering springs for the 535 X-Drive. Does any one have them yet or plan on ordering. Awesome news to say the least

Nice find!

Might be a good balance between completely stock and full-on coilovers.

Tire rack has them for sale already. I think $800ish.

Honestly you're better off investing in some very good coilovers if you're already okay with spending $800 on springs

I use my car to pick up my kid from school and to go ski. Otherwise I walk. It will never see a track. So paying $2600 for KWs is a waste. If we get a 10" pow day, I can raise her up to rally configuration and be on my way to the mountains.

Plus I keep those fancy suspension buttons working. lol.

Because KWV1 are not for Xdrive and because with spring you do not loose adaptive suspension functionnality maybe? I feel that op have legit reasons to consider those.

Only advise to op is do not expect to adjust the height very often. Maybe once for winter and once for summer but even that it is usually not very easy to adjust while on the car and salt from winter make it even worst. Lastly the spring is likely to be shorter vs let say the H&R spring (not adjustable version) so the confort is likely to be a bit worst.

I have HR& spring on my Xdrive and I have no problem in winter and the comfort is really good even after two years having them.

^This. On the fence whether i need height adjustment. Might just go with springs.

for one ST's are a sister company who uses the same specs as KW but do not use the same components. that's why ST's are cheaper. i did my research on these when i bought my KW coilovers. ST's are not corosion resistant and him being in Jersey and with all the salt on the roads during winter those ST's would probably corode after the first winter.

the only KW that's available for the Xdrive are the V3's.

the only issue i have with springs and it's only because i've been on the forums long enough to see members post their issues here are the possibility of shocks leaking after awhile. some members report leaks after getting them installed. some after a couple/few years. some members had issues where their car was a lease and the dealer either will charge them for brand new shocks or were told to have it done before the lease was ending. so i think after seeing all these issues i think it's better to think in the long run what's better for you? and this isn't just here in the F10 platform but across the BMW models. Just a quick search OEM shocks alone for front and rears you're looking well over $1k

I own my car. If the shocks leak, I'll replace the shocks. Probably with oem or bilsteins. I drive maybe 1200 miles a year. I will be buying another bimmer that I will build for road racing and the occasional street mayhem.

Huge fan of coilovers. The last set I had were HKS Hipermax III Sports. KW are nice, but for what I use the car for...KWs are overkill. I'll put some coilovers on the M4/M3/M2...whichever I end up with as my racecar. The 5 is my comfortable ride.

About to buy springs. We haven't gone a ton of snow this season and I usually drive the X1 to ski this season. Don't think I need ride height adjustment.

I’ve been on my CKS coilovers for a while now. Prior to these, I ran H&R’s (non-adjustable) on my full adaptive suspension.

It was a pretty good setup. Only issue I had was roughly a 1/2 inch gap in all four corners that bugged the hell out of me.

Had this been available back then...I would’ve gone with it instead of coilovers. The adaptive suspension was really good...and even greater with these adjustable H&Rs.

Rebooting a dead thread here, but has anybody installed these recently? I just bought a set and am anxious to get them on the car. Would love to see pictures with them installed. Thanks in advance!

I am kind of curious to know also. With EDC and AWD it seems like the only other viable option for a budget build.

KWs with the EDC friendly dampers are what you would expect from high quality, retailing at just over $3k.

I have KW V3s and like them very much. I paid much less than $3k at Tire Rack.

I will be ordering these and installing them within the next few weeks. I too have the EDC and xDrive, I'll be going with these over coilovers because I still want to retain the factory modes and not deal with bypassing/coding for full coilovers.

Do you ever install the springs?
