Bimmerpost App 5.x WIP for Android

5.0.7 installed

I tried changing the avatar and the app crashed. 3 attempts later, uninstalled and reinstalled but all is the same

Knocking wood, 5.0.8 seems to be working beautifully on my A52S running Android 12. Cannot find any bugs so far and it's very smooth.

How about the other functions with 5.0.8? Is seeing subscriptions and myforums ok?

Oddly enough, in addition to my phone, my Subscriptions and Notifications have now disappeared from my iPad too.

So, question: Is this a Me thing or systemwide little problems?

Ok, 5.0.7 loaded on phone. No change.

Still no personal info, Forums, Subscriptions.

Can you try logging out. Then delete the app. Then reinstall and start from scratch and see if there's any difference?

Yup. Already did that. Couple of times. Hmmm.

What device do you use?

Galaxy S10. With most recent updates.

Try the new 5.0.8 and see if there's any improvement?

My bimmerpost app on android got updated yesterday and it has been the worst experience ever.

- I get notifications that I have received a message and when I click on the new message it's just blank.

- While typing, the stuff I wrote earlier gets deleted word by word or my sentences get jumbled up

I am. It's a Galaxy s21 ultra. Are Samsung more prone to these issues?

It seems Samsung devices are dealing with file storage a bit different then regular Android devices (compared to vanilla google devices). So im trying to get around that issue, which I think we are really close.

I'm going to go buy a Samsung today for testing purposes lol.

Could you let me know if 5.0.8 is any improvement?

Ok

508 is stable

I can see the emojis - it's great that they are all showing up and can be scrolled

Forums, my forums, and subscriptions are all stable

I can now also edit successfully

Interestingly, the editing works, but subsequent edits on the same post are giving me the infinite loop again. However, when I hit the back button and go all the way back to the NEWS page, the edit seems to have posted correctly - this wasn't the case previously as no edits would be posted at all

Have News and Forums. All threads on all forums marked as "read"

No My Forums, Subscriptions, Notifications or Personal info yet.

Looks like it has gotten worse with the update. I'm using the latest version (5.0.9). I reinstalled the app.

- All my notifications and messages are not showing up.

- All posts are marked as read.

- When posting to a thread (for example this one) it says I'm not logged in even though I am. I had to reply using the browser.

This new iteration is a significant user experience improvement - definitely moving the needle in the right direction. I appreciate the challenge of such a large overhaul and understand we'll have some bugs to fix, but I think you have laid the groundwork for a significantly improved app. Congrats on going live.

First, the new app is a nice leap forward in look, feel, and user experience! Well done! Now, let's keep up the run to the finish line.

Second, can you organize this thread better and list in the first post what version is the latest and what it shoukd address etc.? And along with that, please list issues already reported. In don't know whether what I'm about to post as issues have already neen addressed and/or reported by someone and don't want to to read 7 pages to find out.

And now, for my issues...
Samsung S21, app version 5.0.5
1. The white app background looks nice, but has two usability issues:
a. Native Android navigation buttons are white as well and not visible at the bottom, so the back button cannot be easily used for navigation back and others can be mistakenly touched and one ends up on phone home screen.
b. The bright background is not great for browsing in the dark/at night.
Solution would be a user-selectable dark theme.

2. Classifieds posts do not show the price, shipping etc header, which the desktop site has. So, many classifieds discussions refer to price being posted, but it cannot be seen in the app.

3. Notifications section count is inaccurate. But this has already been mentioned and worked on.

4. The edit post doesn't work for me. When I edit post and hit the post button, the button just spins and it never stops and my edit is not saved. That is why I am adding this new post after I tried to edit some typos above.
