Sluggish iDrive
I have a 2013 f10 and have not long updated the maps to the new 2018-1
Since then, sometimes the navigation can be really slow and in responsive. Also taking a long time to plane a route Any ideas? Is there a way to reset or reboot the Idrive Many thanks in advance |

Had it booked in at rybrook, they agreed the sat nav was considerably slower than what they considered normal however told me to go away and do an official update of maps as they could tell id used a non-official map update (downloaded from forum link and generated my own fsc)
Have since done that but it's the same, booked in for the 29th and I've taken pictures showing I'm about a mile past the junction I missed it and it hadn't rereouted, also it takes an age to find a route in the first place especially when the cars been sat and everything's gone to 'sleep' What symptoms are you having? |

Not only it takes very long time to calculate the route, or when missing a junction, taking another long while to recalculate. Sometimes the voice guidance gives strange voice guidance at a random location or time.
On a stretch of motor way with no junction in the next few miles (the map is showing the correct location), the voice guidance would suddenly asking to take the first exit a the roundabout in 200 yards! Sometimes the small directional drawing in the dashboard will appear with a roundabout exit drawing, while there is no voice guidance and in fact there is no such a round about around the location. I am using the official map from the BMW connected web site. I guess it must be be something wrong with the BMW 2018-01 map data. |

I have received an email reply back from BMW. It mentioned that they are seeing more and more people reporting similar, and they current think it is related to RTTI system.
They ask me to book the car in to raise a case in their system and check the internal software/firmware. I guess it is likely to be a format drive and reinstall everything, and I really don't like to drive a garage curtesy car with all the garage name and telephone on everywhere. |

Both my wife and I noticed the slow route calculation in our cars; however, today it would was back to normal. This morning it took 45 seconds to determine a route and this evening less than 10 seconds.

Had similar issue on a recent drive to Manchester - was slow to calc route but OK for bulk of journey. Last 40 mins it repeatedly missed the turns I needed by 200 yds or more, or said to turn right where there was no rigth turn, etc.
It was in for service last week and they said BMW are aware of an issue affecting the Nav and we just have to wait for a fix. 2016 F11 running Pro Nav, 2018-1 maps |
