F10 vs _____

I absolutely love my 550i, especially with the mods and the looks I get everywhere I go but I keep finding myself looking at M4s and E90 M3s. A buddy came by yesterday with his 460hp 135i and that didn't help.

My introduction to BMW was when I got to drive an E30 M3 in 1990 and I've been hooked ever since having owned a couple of M cars starting with an E36 M3. There's something about a BMW coupe that drives me nuts and then I see my F10 in the garage or parked and I'm totally in love with it.

There's no way I'd get rid of the 550 anytime soon...hell I just bought it in September. Do you guys struggle longing for the more nimble, sportier siblings that wear the Roundel?

I've noticed that I always want what I don't have. I currently own 3 cars, but in the past I've always wanted a sedan when I had a coupe, and vice versa. If you get the coupe, chances are you'll want the G30 a year after owning the coupe. I think it's a sickness.

You know what, not at all.

If I was tracking my cars, maybe.
If I was a younger (shorter ), single, no kids ... maybe.

For me personally, F10 suits my lifestyle perfectly. Sleek and classy looks, not trying too hard to be noticed, fantastic fit and finish, space, quiet interior, great mileage, "sporty enough" handling and performance just match perfectly where I am in life. There's always "better" out there, faster, flashier, more nimble...etc, but I just love how well balanced this car is.

EXACTLY!! I can't think of any other car I would rather have. Maybe it's maturity, maybe it's just that I'm content with what I have.

For years I said I would own a Vette before I retire. Well, time went by and later on opportunities came around but in the end, no other car I can think of, that I can actually afford, would have been a better choice for me.

I absolutely love this car!

I had the same thing happen to me. I was on my 3rd SUV and said I need to get something sporty. I bought an is350 f sport and was happy with it on certain occasions like when doing spirited driving but for commuting and packing the wife and kid in it, it was way too small. I bought the 535d and literally couldn't be happier. This is the first time I haven't already been thinking about what I am going to get next or what would it be like if I got something else. If you can swing both, do that. I wouldn't sacrifice what you have now for an M car if it is going to be your daily.

My first BMW was a CPO'ed 2008 528i. Drove the crap outta that thing for 146,000 miles and loved it. Fit and finish was amazing, fuel economy was pretty decent, it was spirited, and dearly loved the seats.

Went to a brand new 2014 320i as "just a commuter" for 8 months. My daughter's 06 325i was dying, so instead of buying her a different car, I gave her that 320i. I didn't mind the 320i for the simple task of just commuting. It was stripped and very boring. It was good for her though as she was going to college and working part time.

When I gave the 320i to my daughter, I dropped into a brand new 428i. Another great car with awesome options on it. It just lacked in power, as I am yearning for some more power just to have some fun with. Not race, just floor it and get back to my roots of old school 289, 350, 454 cubic inch V8 torque and feel. I found myself looking at Corvettes, Camaros (gross, I know), Shelby GT350, and some used Porsche Caymans. About the only thing that tripped my trigger were the Porsches. Everything else just had crappy interior and just wouldn't fit that balance I was looking for.

I ended up finding a really nice 2014 CPOed 550i with M sport package and Exec package for a decent deal and am satisfied with the torque and horsepower of the V8 engine. Ironically, I gave the 428i to my daughter, because I just couldn't part with it, I like it that much. Traded the 320i in on the 550i.

I've come full circle...5 series back to 5 series, just with a bigger engine.

Oh...wife promised me that I can buy a Porsche after actually keeping this car (or any car for that matter) for 5 years. I hope I make it. LOL

I was looking at 911s first but with 3 children between 11 and 7 that wasn't going to happen even though we have a minivan and a Mercedes GL. I started looking at Panameras and found that while the name Porsche resonates with most, the F10 550i M Sport beat it hands down when I drove both. I have zero gripes about the Bimmer and I wish I could have a 2 door M car and the F10 but its definitely not an either or, it's going to have to be both at some point down the road. I've owned 21 cars in 12 years and for some reason bought and sold 4 while stationed on the tiny island of Guam for 2 years. I totally understand why celebs have 15 cars...I love what I have in my garage, I just wish there was more garage with more cars!!!

Agreed. Paying for college for my 20 year old kiddo trumped me getting a 911...but that's my target after this elusive goal of owning a car for 5 years first. Sheesh. The horror. LOL

Drove the M4 and it was too much car (did I just say that) for my daily, all things considered. Lovely vehicle, just not enough garage space, money, and happy wife left in the whole enchilada...damn it!

I only had to keep my last car for 3 years before I could get out of it and I didn't make it either but

Everytime I see a E92 M3 F82 M4 or the F12 M6 my heart skips a beat. Personally I love all of them and I am on the same exact boat as you. I want to get rid of my car for one of those but I know I would regret it and hate myself for it. I want all of them!!

i'll chime in! since being in my 535i for the last few years i always wondered if i would ever want to get into a coupe again specifically a M3/M4 but after the Dealer loaned me a //M 235i tho it was quick and fun to drive it just felt like being in a sports compact all over again. probably fun to canyon carve on the weekends but being in Ohio there isn't any except fields and fields of corn lol! as a daily commuter...dunno? i've grown very fond of the F10 for the simple fact of luxury, spacious cabin and performance whenever it presented itself!

I came from M235 as well. It was a hoot to drive everyday.

I've owned lots of X's, 2 generations of M3's and 3 generations of 5'ers. My ideal garage would have a Cayman sitting next to my F'10. But at this point in life? I have to choose one for an everyday driver and it's F'10.

To scratch that nimble car itch op, go find a used higher mile little coupe that wont bleed you at the wallet and can be fun on weekends or evenings. Doesnt have to be your everyday driver.

Either that or you're going to get tempted to go M3 and trade the F'10 and maybe in a way thats not advantageous to you financially. Been there, done that.

On my 3rd 5 Series...2000 528 .. 2003 540 M .. 2016 550 xDrive M. It's an affliction, no other way to make sense of it.

I look almost daily at M5 listings. Wife knows..I love my 550 M, but there is a burn for that M5.
