Chipping your f10 LCI 550xdrive

Hey all - I am looking to chip my f10 but in a very safe way which I can also turn on/off if possible instantly. For those that are very experienced with this can you recommend the best option for this type of tune?

Burger tuning JB4, you can switch from stock to several other aggressive levels in a switch of a button. Also safe.

I'm leaning towards this option since I live in the NY metro area. I like the boostmod option since I would be able to load the stock map if needed.

How about the dinan tune? I plan on keeping the car for many years so I am looking for something that will not cause too much wear on the engine. Also can I install it myslef or should I use a shop and if so can someone recommend a good shop in the NYC metro area.

Only shops I can recommend with personal experience is @EnzoRacing in Long Island (well worth the drive) heck I came from Central NJ and know folks who've come all the way from Boston / Maryland as well.

Furthermore, Dinan tune is the most expensive for the less gains. Only matches your original factory warranty and the Dinan Dealers wont budge. When its time to sell the tune you won't get no where near 50% of what u paid.

question is do you still have warranty left? JB4 is the way to go. I have been running it for a year and no problems also impressive gains. any DME tune besides Dinan will void your warranty for the engine and drive train.

If you think JB4 won;t void your warranty, then you're in for a good awaking surprise. I've seen more warranties getting voided due to the hidden/ghost codes Jb4 leaves than any flash tune in the last 2yrs since Flash came into existence for F series lol.

What the hell is a ghost code (code that can't be seen)? I have taken my JB4 off before and checked with ISTA and no codes at all. By law warranty can not be void unless they prove the JB4 caused the problem but for a software tune the DME has to be bench cracked to overcome the 256 bit encryption which will automatically void your warranty. check your facts.

You sir are 2 steps ahead like myself, ISTA+ everytime before it goes to Dealer so i know whats there and whats not. Installing a JB4 and tuning the car can automatically flag your car too as I've seen plenty of folks get flagged, maybe your particular dealer or SA doesn't want to flag you. Whether you do JB4 or ECU tune is up to the individual but if BMW wanted to check they can see both.

Users reporting the unstable and erratic driving with jb4 but car is transformed to OEM feel except all the extra gain when (Bootmod3/Enzo) I can only speak for these 2, not other flash tuners.

It's illegal in the US for BMW to just void your warranty.
There has to be reasonable causality stemming from the mod. if I get aftermarket turbo wheels, doesnt mean a thing if my wheel bearing fail. But if those turbos fail, well, duh. There is no global warranty void (not even for the drivetrain). Flagging just means theres extra investigatory efforts if there is some sort of failure down the road.
