Probably so if you have fold-down seats. I can get 4 in my E92!! They're 18" rims, but the rim size is irrelevant, unless you are carrying rims with no tires mounted. The circumference of the tire+rim combination is pretty much the same regardless of the rim diameter.

No. When I switched my wheels, I put 2 18"s on the trunk and 2 on the rear seats. Use a big strong trash bag for the ones on the rear seats. Or bring a friend!

Ndx: Since you are in Canada you automatically get the rear fold-down seats. The tires do fit with the fold-down seats (I do it every fall and spring).

Just like everyone said... I've done it with fold down seats. No way without them... 2 would have to go in the back seats.

Don't even bother with thr trunk. Get 4 heavy plastic garbage bags and but them in the back seat. Leaned up against the rear seat back, they fit fine. I have transported wheels in my E46 plenty of times and it fits no problem.

You are correct, it is defaulted on all 5 series in Canada except the 528 where it comes with the premium seating (or whatever it is called).

It shouldn't even be an option. That should be standard equipment.

Same here. And now I can't fit my snowboard in my car. Foolish me for thinking the Cold Weather package might actually include a ski pass through or something!

I asked this same question when I bought an EVO IX and '07 TL, years ago. The EVO guys told me folding rear seats are less rigid for the rear structure (folding seats allow more body flex). Not sure how this applies to BMWs, but there might be some logic to this.

There is a slot for your skis, just fold your mid-console (rear cup holders) down then you should see it. However, it's not big enough for snowboards to fit through, hah.

I might buy that... but the metal that creates the backing for the non-folding seats is pretty thin. Hmmm

I'm pretty certain mine doesn't even have that... but I'll look.

Many purists will not get fold-down seats for just this reason. It is widely accepted that they increase flex by that crowd.

Maybe this only comes with the cold weather package. I haven't tried fitting my snowboard through yet. It might fit w/o the bindings.

I have neither a pass through or a fold down. Seems foolish.
