That's incorrect. You would need helix or else rail pressure would drop and cause misfires, but then good luck dealing with helix issues.

How nice! I broke the bank on the XDi60 pump. I hate having to mix at the gas station. I just wanted to pull up, pump and go.

I did not find any pure performance benefit going aftermarket intake vs just drop-in filter... my wastegate duty cycle still remained the same and surprisingly drop-in filter made throttle better and smoother.

Hmm, I guess I can save some money by just going back to stock intake with drop in filter. I will try it and do some logs.

Yeah, regardless, 20 psi still not enough :P because I think that only translate to 450/480ish whp. At least on AWD.

I made 520ish RWHP with 18 psi full e85. I need to get back on the dyno with 20 psi to see what she does now. However, I had my timing backed down 2 degrees or so since making 20 psi.

My comment is made in context of my previous post - meth increases fuel rail pressure which allows you to run full e85.

Hmm.. I never heard that before but you could be right. I will have to check and verify that.

Oh, also David said the single shotgun from VVT works well, he hasn't had any issues with it. One would need to confirm fitment and it is only for the old style pump.

That's what DS said - I am gonna trust him and I want meth anyway!!! MHD has some cool stuff with their new e85 integration to the ecu - we'll be full flex fuel ready and tune switching on the fly!

Maybe meth puts less demand on the fueling so the hpfp doesn't have to run as much volume when combined with meth.

I could only speculate on why it would raise pressure but logically I could see that with a 50/50 mix of water/meth, the water vaporizes in the cylinder and expands giving more compression as well as the meth providing higher octane and cooling. So you have all that as 'extra' going on in the cylinder I could see why the injectors could see more resistance when spraying and therefore increasing the fuel rail pressure as there is more pressure where it is spraying into.

Plus it is extra fuel too, don't forget that!!

I am still going to do port injection over meth. I did enough research and I always end up finding meth pump problems from every kit on the market.

Things always break, that's the name of the game. Anything else could just as easily fail. The 2.5 however does come with digital readouts warnings of clogged or unplugged lines or low levels. I'm comfortable with that, plus there are built in DME safeties for low pressure in the fuel rail, auto retardation of timing with detonation, knock sensors, etc etc.

In my mind it just comes with the territory and it's not any less safe than PI with modules and extra pumps, lines, injectors etc that are also points of failure. I guess my point is if you wanted it to be reliable you shoulda kept it stock :-D

I have read bad stories on meth and not so much on pi, but reflex also a game changer in pi world that is why I am now planning in going with that. If you believe meth is safe and you will get that warning before engine kaboom more power to you .

Meth comes in 2 forms. 1 for cooling which is 50/50 and one for fueling. You increase the octane using the form for fueling which produces less stress on the hpfp side but it also comes with its downfalls. Clogged nozzles.. leaky check valves etc. All determining factors to blowing up a motor quicker than port injection with motiv reflex. You can be running a tune designed to use with meth for fueling. Have a clogged nozzle and blow up. I have had 2 clogged nozzles thus far. 1 with pro meth and 1 with cooling mist. I only use meth for cooling now. For fuel its super corrosive and not taking care of starts turning into rust then into your motor. Also leaky check valves is another downfall. If they are left stuck after the car is shut or below the crack pressure then you will have meth leak into your motor and flood it upon start up. Be careful.

What kit did you have? Did you have the gauge that monitors flow and advises of leaks/clogs?

True. More E85 you use. The harder it is to stabalize the rail pressure and keep it happy.

I had a torqbyte-cm5 initially. Very complex setup but the best out of everything. Monitors and shuts down everything while putting the system into safe mode. I sold it, got rid of meth entirely. Revisited the meth system due to hot temps up here in NY and needed cooling. Went and got the VC2 by Snow Performance. Started playing around with M1 for fuel additive. Went on the dyno and me and David couldnt even tune right since needing more fuel. Stuck at 20psi. This is with FX-180, -10an fuel lines, hellcat LPFP. Wasted 3hrs on the dyno. After going home went over my fuel system and found out my Pro-Meth Nozzle was gunked with rust from the M1 sitting. Went and bought me a Devils Own Nozzle and been good so far. No guage can monitor if there is a clog in the line except for torque byte. For the leaks, if you buy a check valve over a solenoid you cant monitor the cracking pressure. Devils own is the only valve on the market with a 10psi crack pressure i believe. The rest open up at around 20psi. You can always opt for a solenoid and hook it up to your guage but those are 100% more liable to stay stuck open and leak when the car is off overtime.

If your looking for more fuel to push that turbo i would look into buying a motive reflex and port system till Nostrum figures out the fuel tables for there injectors (mhd N55). You will be running through M1 or whatever fuel you use for that tank like water. $$$. Its the easiest way out of the 2 to make your motor go boom unless your using a reflex or torqbyte to control the meth. Plus you will have to go over your system monthly and purge out all the lines to make sure they are free from gunk and flowing right. Port you dont have these issues. Buy a motiv reflex. David has the base maps for it and let him tune the maps. He taught me how to do mines and pretty easy. The reflex will detect any mishaps and shut the system down immediately with a code instead of leaving you blind plus you can monitor everything from your phone. Eventually to push 600hp plus we wont need these stuff once Nostrum gets there act right with there injectors.

Yeah.. If I ever go meth route I would just use it for controlling IATs... probably put windshield washer in the tank and let it cool the IATs lol but not for fueling.
