Need opinion on m5 diffuser install on my 550i

Need opinion on OEM m5 diffuser install on my 550i

Go with body color or painting it black (similar to stock msport diffuser on 550i)

any pics you guys have would be appreciated.

Attached pic shows what i'm leaning towards.

just looking for other opinions/ideas.

what color is your car ? silver ?

Mine is Carbon Fiber and I love it. I had a matte black one before and I didnt really like it much.

My buddy has a white 550i with a gloss black M5 diffuser and looks great, I may have a photo.

My car is space grey (seems like the same as the pic i posted)

and current diffuser is gloss black so i'm leaning towards gloss black cuz its the easy choice LOL

Actually i believe the oem diffuser color is called dark shadow metallic...

I'm in the same boat for the wife's car (base). I'm getting the Mtech M5 rear and was going to do gloss black for the diffuser (Alpine white bumper) until I saw this pic so now I'm doing body color with black insert. Down the road, if I wanted a color change, I'll just replace it with a CF one.

I just installed mine this week... PITA with my exhaust adjustments when I already had it designed for the MTech diffuser opening.

I painted mine the same 416 color as the body, only finished it with a matte clear finish. I rattle canned it and sprayed it so it would build with a texture (similar to plastic parts).

Excuse the bad photo, but you can see the effect.

that actually looks pretty SWEET! for me if you have any carbon fiber components on the car i'd go with carbon fiber. otherwise matte black would look nice...dunno if gloss black would throw everything off

My body color method still gives the car the metallic properties of the Schwarz Metalllic, but differentiates the diffuser from standard glossy paint.

Great....just got rear ended in traffic... (Very small love tap), but the bumper cover is disfigured a bit from the pressure.

Have my 2 month old daughter in the car so I was very distraught but after action review, I should have paid more attention! Maybe been a different situation. 10 years ago and single LOL

Hi,

I have tried matte black and color matched and I prefer color matched. Also all my friends prefer it color matched.

Before (diffuser was dirty in the first two pictures)

I dunno, the body matched silver does look good. I think it makes a different impact pending if the car is lighter or not. I prefer the contrast, but in my case, going lighter on the diffuser isn't an option obviously.

Pani, I'm in the same boat as you on my new 550i. Are you changing out your exhaust or are you keeping the trap. OEM tips for now? Also, what are you lowered on? I'm looking to lose my gap on the sport suspension.

i just bought the m5 diffuser, and i believe your diffuser is meant for a 550i exhaust (stock or aftermarket) and since i'm running the m5 comp exhaust the openings for the exhaust may not line up...
