BMW F10 Pre-LCI steering wheel retrofit with M Sport LCI

Hello Friends

I decided to "upgrade" my sport steering wheel (has shift paddles)(2010) with the LCI M Sport steering wheel (has shift paddles).

Process went pretty fast, but I'm finding myself with an issue now:
Situation 1: Start engine, hit the DRIVE (automatic) and instead of showing me D it shows M. I'm able to change the gears only from the paddles. Gear lever would not do anything not even in M/S mode. Also, while changing gears from the paddle is reversed: + is - and - is +.

Situation 2: after driving few minutes and not changing the gears, it moves automatically in D, and the paddles don't work anymore. Gear lever works as usual in D, M/S.

In the attached images you can see that the original SW has 6 wires in the connector, while the LCI SW has only 5.
On the original SW, commands connector (from left to right) cables are the following:
1. Mauve - I suppose it's the horne
2&3 White & Maroon are paddle shifters
4,5,6 - Thick maroon, red, blue - rest of the commands.
On the LCI SW, I couldn't check yet the harnesses.

There are no other "symptoms", nor errors.

The resistance pull up values on the LCI paddles are wrong for your pre-LCI vehicle.

I go into some detail on this in my thread:

Hello Stück,
I've read your posts. So few questions:
1. Should I assume that I have an F30 wheel and not F10 LCI?
2. What Control Module did you buy? Eventually PN
3. do I have to replace the resistors also?
..this given the fact that my wheel is acting similar like yours.

Thanks

The F30 wheel won't bolt to the F10, the splines are different sizes.
I only had F30 paddles, I swapped the SMD resistors for the correct values.
You can get the correct values from your pre-LCI paddles you still have.
Control module PN was to get the heated wheel working, nothing else.

So you're saying that if I'm replacing the resistors, problem should be solved. All of the other commands are working perfect.

I did that to an older Opel i had (saturn in the US). Just measure the resistor values in your current steering wheel and duplicate them in your new one. Also the + and - might be reversed. I experienced a similar situation on an e92 setup.

Quick question. The lower trim of the sport steering wheel that goes below the airbag, is it held in with screws or just clips? Wanting to replace mine as it is getting worn and didn't want to break anything

Hello. I have a problem. I installed the steering wheel with paddles from the F10 LCI.

My car is F01 pre LCI and the paddles don't work.
What resistors do I need to use for the paddles to work?
Thx

Ah, you have a 7 series. Pre-LCI 7 series don't support paddle shifters. Straight up.
