Sold my e90 335i and bought a f10 550i
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm an e90post alum with a e90 FBO 335i and now graduated to a 550i. I have to say the f10 550i is not as guttural as the e90 335i.
If there are any Star Trek geeks here the e90 335i was like a Defiant Class ship run and gun torpedo ship and the 550i is like a Soverign Class ship big yet powerful. I opted to get a Sport Package f10 550i with 35k miles with a CPO warranty. The color is Dark Graphite Metallic. I always had light color cars ala white, silver, etc but opted for something darker this time around. The car is just as powerful as my FBO 335i but the delivery is a lot more smooth. For example I am not looking at the speedometer thinking I am cruising at 65 but I am actually at 90+!!! I love the high end power of this car compared to my 335i. The 550i may be not as "raw" from a dig but it definitely makes up for it in midrange and high end. So far its completely stock but once I get some mods on it I will post in the picture Section. Modding Road Map: Phase 1) -20" Wheels (Possibly M5 rep with CF center caps and //M wheel badges black inserts with machined face) -Roof Spoiler, Performance trunk spoiler -Eibach springs drop -CF Emblems all around Phase 2) -Mtech kit with M5 front with M5 diffuser (don't worry, no kind of m5 badging will be anywhere on the car) -Quad Exhaust (from M5 or M6 or even 650i) Car is too damn quiet! -Gloss Black Grills Phase 3) -n63 jb4 stage 2 -p3 cars vent gauge -(Wait for an intake/filter set-up) -Possibly catted DPs from AR |

Congratulations - I also came to the F10 550 from an E90 335. My 335 was RWD, and I oped for the xDrive 550. I found it helps with putting the power down, and I also had an urge for something that handled better in the snow.
While I like Star Trek, you certainly took it to another level there. I follow you, though - recall the Defiant from DS9. Yes, the 335 is more a small, nimble, little monster. The power is strong, but it does start to feel lean up-high in the power band and upper gears (highway)... so you felt much more of its power from a stop and in the lower-end of the powerband IMHO. The 550, in contrast, feels like it pulls more consistently throughout, and with the xDrive, it actually kills my previous 335 (0 - 60 is 4.3s on the LCI 550xi). The handling? Well, obviously not the small, nimble 335. However, if you opted for a car that has the DHP or sport suspension, it'll handle really well-enough for most anything you should be doing with a 4k+ pound sedan. Have fun with it, and congratulation!
