F10 N20 oil burning smell

F10 N20 oil burning smell and smoking from passenger side under the hood. I knew my valve cover gasket was leaking which I recently replaced but still having this problem. What am I missing here.

1- Did they clean off the old oil that had leaked from the old VCG when they replaced it... or just changed the gasket and sent you on your way?

2- Here we also replace the eccentric actuator's football seal and the vacuum pump seal (back of the valve cover) as these do not come in the VCG set. Did these get replaced too?

3- Have you done a visual inspection to see if you find any fresh oil spots?

I’m currently undergoing this now. Had a nasty misfire in cylinder 3 and got the plugs and coil packs swapped out. All good now, but also had that oil smell.

Essentially, these cars are notorious for the Valve Cover Seals and Fuel Filter Housing Seals going bad.

If it’s not remedied quick, that excess oil can cause damage to other parts over time.

Luckily you’ve taken care of the more expensive portion. I bet it’s your fuel filter housing sitting off to the right front of the motor.

Oh, and as mentioned above the excess oil needs to be cleaned off the motor as well.

Hi friends. I have 528i F10 2012 with N20 Engine. All arpund the engine looks excellent, not leaks. The engine looks like new, but for some moments the car is smelling in the cabin, like oil smell. Is just for moments, what I can do for firsts steps?
