Beautiful, sunny morning, but still only 62.
I'm all mixed up. I was in the garden on hands/knees pulling weeds and pruning tomatoes from 11:30-1:30 yesterday, shirtless. For some reason my back was extremely warm trying to sleep last night, and is slightly tender to touch today in clothing. . .

Another sunny 90 Fscking degree day down in SC at our tree farm, with an aircon unit that can't keep up even 100% in the shade.
Glad I'm not at Chez Vreihen right now, where the temperature on my weather station there is reading 95 F.....

Well, August arrived a bit early here in NE Ohio, 88 degrees yesterday and today and continuing tomorrow with lows in the mid 60's .
Not going to complain, back yard finally drying out enough to get the lawn mower thru it. Mid 60's for highs Wednesday thru Saturday.

Santa Ana winds kicked up today, starting a fast moving wildfire in Ventura County burning 836 acres. About 500 firefighters worked on the ground with aircraft making water and retardant drops.
Currently 70°F here, the high was 83. Going to be about the same all week with Wednesday being the warmest at 90°F. Edit: now 1,400 acres (Tuesday) Now 1,700 acres, 15% contained (Wednesday) Last edited by Esteban; 05-20-2026 at 01:11 PM.. |

Hasn't been nice the past days with lower temps and scattered showers but now changing for the better warming up as the week progresses to a high of 27C by Sunday and a trip to the seaside is planned.

2nd day in a row around 30C (86F) but going back down to single digits overnight after an expected severe thunderstorm.
![]() Update: no official tornado here but pretty sketchy near touchdowns about 45min drive away. Some people said got 7 or 8 tornado warnings, I didn't get 1. And now we get a frost warning... Last edited by freakystyly; 05-20-2026 at 02:10 PM.. |

Flying to Seattle Saturday (71) then getting on a boat to cruise Alaska. Basically all the ports are listing 50, some with rain. Can I still get a tan in 50??? All I was planning to pack was shorts and Hawaiian shirts, maybe a sweatshirt for evening chill. Oh, and a couple pair of socks for the gym.

I'd substitute Alaskan shirts -- heavier fabric and long sleeves...

Already 82 F before noon, with the high forecasted to be 87 F. A bit cooler than the last few days, but increasing chances of rain for the next few days to hopefully make it more bearable in my might-as-well-be-no-air-conditioning hell.
Popcorn thunderstorms have been trying to pop up since yesterday, but with the popcorn fart dry air and drought here in the southeast they fizzle out in 15 minutes on the radar before they get anywhere near the tree farm. I'd take some of JJ's frost any day of the week right now.....

Currently 63°F with a high forecasted at 81. Was originally forecasted to be 90. Glad it's a little cooler today than expected because I just spent some time in the front yard repairing a broken sprinkler line and I prefer to work outside in cool weather.
Memorial Day weekend is shaping up nicely. Forecast calls for high 70s all weekend. Sounds like BBQ weather. Last edited by Esteban; 05-22-2026 at 11:59 AM.. |

Late yesterday afternoon, the popcorn thunderstorms finally managed to hold together long enough for the rain to hit the ground and break the local drought heat bubble here at the tree farm. Once that happened, lines of strong training t-storms with torrential downpours went on most of the night. When I looked outside a few minutes ago, the portable awning that was over our picnic table had broken its aluminum frame and collapsed from the weight of the collected rail water on the cloth top.
Today's high is supposed to be in the low 80's F, with a chance of more rain.....

Was a crazy week 90 plus for three days and now for the weekend wet rainy and cool. Yesterday as not so bad in the 60's today 50 and wet. Felt like I was back in Northern Japan with the wet cold dreary weather.
