E90/92 is a good choice for those nostalgic for the feel of the E60. Slightly smaller, lighter, but big and substantial enough, and not a hint of "Lexury".

+1. Well, with the right options it can be a little luxurious as well ....and it lacks that artificial electric steering. I hope they keep the mechanical steering, at least as an option on the F30.

e90 is a much better example with 4 doors.

and the interior of the F10 is light-years ahead of e9x--i had a fully loaded 335i M Sport and even a cheaper base 523i stripper is richer feeling.

Yes if luxury is what one is looking for then definitely go with the F10.

I have not had the pleasure of driving a 'M' Car so I don't know how well they handle.
I started out with a 02 325Ci then had a 04 530i, Moved on to a 07 335i and now I have a 11 535i. I have to agree with everything SD535 wrote, This is by far the best BMW I have had the pleasure of owning. Enjoy it SD I know I am.

I live about 20 minutes from Mid Ohio, getting ready to head back for the AMLS GT event this afternoon, and had a lot of fun discussing cars in general yesterday, with quite a few on the new F10's. A few of the comments that I got from both BMW and non BMW types yesterday:

'The only people that liked the looks of the E60 were 60% of the people that bought them. While both drive great, the F10 is finally a BMW again, great lines, great looks.'

'Yea I've read all the reviews on the feel of the steering, sort of a cop out if you ask me because these same people are saying that the F10 'steers' better. I'll take the driving over the feel, but each to their own.'

'Everything will change when the M5 comes out. What can be done on the F10 because of the much stiffer chassis has barely been touched.'

Hmm...in my opinion it's hard to enjoy the driving without good steering. Also, I agree that the frame is improved, but it's counterintuitive to add a suspension that doesn't complement it well. The M5 will be a blast.

IMO, from extended test driving, standard F10's steering lacks the traditional BMW feel, a bit too light, numb in the mid position and bad road vibrations can feed back to the steering wheel.

F10 with 2TB option allowing adjustable steering weighting, perfect in sport setting, precise, perfectly weighted and makes the car much more the perfect steering BMW.

How does adding a $500 dollar paddle shifter (2TB) change the steering? I know the sport/sport+ with the ZSP did not help much.

ZSP, sport package is mainly cosmetic. Have you tested an f10 with dynamic handling to date?

So how much time or miles do you actually have in an F10?

2TB definitely changes the steering as sporty and transmission as sporty, but chassis may be. I am very happy with it.

Yes I know but there are several posts above mine that state it changes the steering. I tested the 550 with the dynamic handling package in all settings. I have posted about this in detail in another thread. Paddle shifters were included. I have also driven a friends 535 with the same options on several occasions.

Oh brother, here we go again. Maybe BMW should've charged $2,000 for the 2TB option so people would actually beleieve it does something...

2TB adds the paddle shifters, sports-tuned automatic transmission and Dynamic Driving Control (NOT to be confused with Dynamic Drive, or Dynamic Dampers or Adaptive Drive)

ZSP is mostly cosmetic.

Thanks for clarifying the difference. Yes ZDH is the adaptive drive.

I agree with you tadtaggert. I came from an Evolution IX so most cars feel very different from that raw but capable beast. I have the 550i with dynamic handling package and after 1500 miles I have enjoyed discovering its capabilities. I actually look forward to my hellish commute. In term of handling I find it balances sport and luxury well but look forward to seeing what the M5 will offer. Power? Its hard to imagine having more than ample reserves of the 550i as this car pulls extremely hard on the highway. I think he M5 is going to be a bit scary on public roads and make perhaps for a less balanced commuter not that his would deter any car enthusiast. Also gas mileage is pretty good, averaging 26.6 at 75mph with a range of mid 400s on full tank of 93

Glad to hear you are enjoying the car coming from an Evo. The car seems to grow on people. That's a good sign. Yes the M cars have always been the most extreme. They are perfect if you prefer that experience or ever want to track your car.
